Weekly Wonder Woman: Forever Evil: ARGUS #6, DC Universe v Masters of the Universe #4

Forever Evil: ARGUS #5

Time for our round-up of Wonder Woman’s appearances in DC comics this week. Just a couple of cameos this time round. Forever Evil: ARGUS #6 continues where #5 left off – Steve Trevor on a quest for Wonder Woman’s lasso, which is currently in possession of Wonder Woman’s former friend and now arch nemesis Cheetah. Once again, most of it consists of Trevor trying to prove absolutely definitely that he’s not just Diana’s ex-boyfriend; once again, I think he doth protest too much.

In particular, thanks to the arrival of the DC Universe versions of the Morai/Fates…

DC's Morai

…we have a flashback to a point during the recent ‘Trinity War’ – where incidentally we learn that when Wonder Woman’s using her own lasso, she can’t lie either – when Steve asked Diana if she loved him. This is probably not the answer he was looking for, though:

I loved you, but I moved on

Ouch. But pick your moments, Steve.

Masters of the Universe vs DC Universe #6

Meanwhile, the somewhat dreary Masters of the Universe crossover finally ends after six issues of nonsense. As usual, it’s better for the Masters of the Universe side of things than the DC side. Wondy does turn up in Greece, still possessed by Skeletor/Dark Orko/Whoever Because I Can’t Remember Now…

…which is nice. But beyond that, she’s largely there to offer Batman help with the redecoration.

Wonder Woman offers Batman help

Oh well. Let’s just say you didn’t miss much if you didn’t read it.

Weekly Wonder Woman: Wonder Woman #29

Wonder Woman #29

Well, I’m surprised. As we head into the final few issues of his run, after ages of either being annoyed at Brian Azzarello’s Wonder Woman or only finding it moderately good but with some worrying aspects, I’m forced not only to say that Wonder Woman #28 is a great issue but also that it might even be the case that our Brian has had a masterplan all this time, an interesting genius plan that will essentially create a broad foundation for whomever follows him.

Or not.

Let’s talk more after the jump.

Weekly Wonder Woman: Superman/Wonder Woman #6, Justice League of America #13

Superman/Wonder Woman #6

It’s that time of the month again – the latest issue of DC’s most consistently enjoyable and excellent title, Superman/Wonder Woman, is hitting people’s tablets this week and it’s a corker, as writer Charles Soule and artist Tony Daniel wrap up the title’s first initial arc with an almost neverending series of surprises, innovations and standout moments the likes of which the nu52 hasn’t ever seen before.

I’ll also be looking after the jump at Justice League of America #13, which features a guest appearance by Wonder Woman as the only one of the Justice League who can finally end the Forever Evil storyline. Just one more reason to like her, huh?

I should also point out that in one of the above two comics we finally get to see Wonder Woman’s new invisible jet. Well, not see, obviously but…

Weekly Wonder Woman: Batman/Superman Annual #1

Batman/Superman Annual #1

Only a guest appearance by Diana in this week’s Weekly Wonder Woman – a cameo in Batman/Superman Annual #1. A strange and funny little tale by Greg Pak, it sees various members of the Bat family and the Super family head off to Warworld to fight the son of Mongul, because if they don’t, he’ll blast away bits of the Earth with his great big space gun.

However, before Supes and co go on their way, Diana turns up first to ask why she’s not coming and then to wish them all good luck – and to give Supergirl her sword because Clark’s such a great big girls’ blouse when it comes to this killing thing. It’s essentially a few panes of lovely character moments beautifully illustrated by the always wonderful Jae Lee that’s good for Diana, good for the Superman-Wonder Woman relationship and even good for Wonder Woman-Supergirl, who have a sort of rapprochement following their last big bust up.

Worth a flick through, at least.

Weekly Wonder Woman: Wonder Woman #28 + Injustice: Gods Among Us, Year Two #4 and Forever Evil: Argus #5

Wonder Woman #28

So it’s the beginning of the end for a lot of things over in Wonder Woman. We’re heading towards the end of the current story arc for one thing, but we’re also heading towards the end of Brian Azzarello and Cliff Chiang’s three-year run on the title, with wife and husband team Meredith and Brian Finch ready to take over on writing and art duties respectively.

After the jump, we’ll talk about all the other things that (possibly) ended in Wonder Woman #28, as well as Wonder Woman’s appearance in Injustice: Gods Among Us and various mentions in Forever Evil: Argus #5, in which Steve Trevor tries to prove he’s more than just her ex-boyfriend… by trying to beat up her arch enemy Cheetah and getting her lasso back.
