Wonder Woman 31

It’s another bumper week for Wonder Woman as not only do we have the latest in her standalone, eponymous title, Wonder Woman, which continues the war between the First Born and basically everyone else, we finally have the conclusion of the Forever Evil storyline where Wonder Woman and her lasso save the day through a link to one of the people you probably weren’t expecting, and we also have the latest instalment of the Doomsday saga in Batman-Superman #11, which doesn’t feature Superman at all, so Wonder Woman deputises for him. Really should have been Batman-Wonder Woman, in fact, particularly given how the Forever Evil storyline concludes…

And although this is Weekly Wonder Woman, I’m also going to have a look at Forever Evil: Argus #1-3, which I was extremely negligent in not covering when they came out, since they include flashbacks to some of the most important Wonder Woman moments since the nu52 started.

Spoilers ahoy, obviously.

Superman Wonder Woman #8

Well, what a week for Wonder Woman. Just yesterday, the return of Sensation Comics was announced:

Sensation Comics

That’s the first time in history she’s had three titles at the same time (AFAIK).

But we also have a great big crossover involving Superman – and, naturally enough, Wonder Woman – that continues Supe’s fight against Doomsday and shows its after-effects as Superman discovers that inhaling Doomsday’s remains probably isn’t the best idea ever. Leave it to Wonder Woman to save the day – using some of her shiny new god-powers and by visiting all the other women in Superman’s life, although she seems to have forgotten something…

After the jump then, we’ll have a look at Superman Doomed #1, Action Comics #31 and Superman/Wonder Woman #8. And in some parallel universes not far away, we get to glimpse one Wonder Woman of the future in Futures End #0, another Wonder Woman of the future in Justice League Beyond #20 and a Wonder Woman of the past/present in Smallville: Lanterns #10. Busy, busy, busy…

Weekly(ish) Wonder Woman: Wonder Woman #30

Wonder Woman #30

Not quite sure if I can get away with calling it Weekly Wonder Woman, given that’s it’s been three weeks since the last round-up, but seeing as there’s not actually been much out (with one honourable exception), I’m not sure it makes much difference.

Anyway, follow me after the jump for a proper look at Wonder Woman #30, as well as a couple of guest appearances by Diana and/or her lasso in Justice League #29, Justice League Beyond 2.0 #19 and Batman/Superman #9.

Superman/Wonder Woman #7

Normally, around this time, I’d do a round-up of all of Wonder Woman’s appearances in DC comics in the past week. Unfortunately, given that both Superman and Wonder Woman were at the epicentre of a nuclear explosion not so long ago, I can’t do that, can I?

What do you mean they survived? How…?

Okay, we’ll talk about that after the jump. We’ll also be looking at a few alternative universes: the Smallville alternative universe, where Wonder Woman is flirting away with Steve Trevor, and the Justice League Beyond alternative universes, in which a slightly older Wonder Woman is off with Batman instead.

Gosh. Still, as long as she’s having fun, hey?

Weekly Wonder Woman: Action Comics #30

Action Comics #30

Only one comic is featuring the Amazon princess this week – boo! – and it’s Action Comics #30, which serves as a start to the ‘Superman Doomed’ crossover arc that’s going to be running through Action Comics, Superman/Wonder Woman, Superman et al over the coming month or so.

Unfortunately, DC’s timings are all a bit off, so Wondy only appears in one pane of the issue…

Wonder Woman flashback. Or flashforward

…in which Superman recalls that time when Harrow – the ghost soldier who can raises armies of the dead in a manner somewhat akin to Ares back in Wonder Woman – got her soldiers to try to kill Wonder Woman. You remember that, don’t you? You don’t? Oh, that’s because that’s happening next week in Superman/Wonder Woman #7. Not at all confusing, hey?

Oh well, that’s all folks!
