Sitting Tennant

Time once again to admire acclaimed Scottish actor David Tennant and his amazing ability to avoid standing up. We have three pictures today, now that Ms Jaradel has managed to pick herself up and activate her patented “Pictures of David Tennant sitting down finder”. The first is from People Like Us and appears to show some very unsubtle paparazzi, the second shows David Tennant trying to get Graham Norton’s attention, while the third sees our David mesmerised at the BAFTAs by a particularly exciting group of Lithuanian knife throwers, demonstrating their skills on Fern Britton.

Despite Ms Rullsenberg’s attempt to skew the scores by captioning her own picture, no inspiration points to be awarded this time since both of last week’s pictures were captioned an equal number of times by everyone else. So that means the picture leaderboard now stands as follows:

Back in witty caption land, Toby got the 10 points award for best usage of the world’s smallest pigs in a caption; witty points went to Marie for picture 1 and Rev for his slightly macabre caption for picture 2. That gives us a points board that looks suspiciously like this:

Got the tingles? Full of excitement? Yes, you have that Friday feeling, otherwise known as “anticipation of a forthcoming Sitting Tennant”.

First of all, I’ll start you off with this bonus “ultimate” Sitting Tennant, which I’ve had sitting around for ages and that no one else has submitted yet but I thought you’d all enjoy – no need to caption.

Thought you’d like it. But moving on, time for the contributions from the regular Sitting Tennanters. Ms Jaradel’s fallen over and is too far away from her keyboard to send us something this week, but Ms Rullsenberg and Sister Chastity have served you all with a couple of treats:

So I’ll leave that up to you (you can make less obvious jokes as well, if you’d like).

Last week’s suggestion of a scavenger hunt won approval from Sister Chastity, but unfortunately no one else so that wasn’t a goer. But then I came up with, IMHO, an even better idea: inspiration points. Whichever picture gets the most captions (or even the best captions) that week, will get two bonus points for having inspired others. How does that sound? To me it sounds like an incentive to come up with really provocative Sitting Tennants, that’s what.

Anyway, the picture leaderboard now stands as follows:

Witty captions looked in a dire state for most of the week, with only two dedicated captioners feeling their creative juices flowing. But a flurry of activity at the last minute, from the holidaying Marie among others, saw life once more breathed into an otherwise prone Sitting Tennant.

The first stab at a bonus points option saw three people trying their luck, with Marie eventually proving she had what it took to combine David Tennant and swine flu. Meanwhile, witty points went to Rullsenberg for picture one; Electric Dragon for picture two and picture three, which if not the best use of Carol Ann Duffy in a caption was at least the most random and amusing.

After a brief mid-week birthday edition, it’s time for our regularly scheduled edition of “hot Scottish actor taking a pew” aka Sitting Tennant.

This week, we have a smorgasbord of pictures, with Sister Chastity giving us a still from People Like Us, in which DT had to go on a great internal journey to play the part of “an actor”; and Jaradel returns to the hellish, barren wasteland conditions of Planet of the Dead; or was it really just Blackpool, as Ms Rullsenberg intimates?

At witty caption central, Toby sucked on a can of nitrous oxide and extended his lead but nearly lost points for implying that David Tennant had decreased his lead and once again resorting to puns; Ms Rullsenberg came in with some list minute captions that has now drawn her into a captioning slap-down with Jane Henry – who will triumph?; and Rev/Views took a break from cursing the name of BT to rejoin the fray, presumably via semaphore.
