Good Behavior
Airdates

When’s that show you mentioned starting again, TMINE? Including Good Behavior (US) and Dimension 404 (US)

Every Friday, TMINE lets you know the latest announcements about when new imported TV shows will finally be arriving on UK screens – assuming anyone’s bought anything, of course

Only a couple of acquisitions this week and as we got premiere dates at the same time as the news, more or less, we can do them both at the same time. Although I haven’t seen the second one.

Good Behavior (US: TNT; UK: Virgin Media)
Premiere date: September 11

Good Behaviour follows Letty Raines (Michelle Dockery), a thief and con-artist whose life is always one wrong turn, one bad decision from implosion – which is just how she likes it. Fresh out of prison, Letty is attempting to stay afloat – but when she overhears a hitman being hired to kill a man’s wife, she sets out to derail the job, setting her on a collision course with the killer and entangling them in a dangerous and seductive relationship. Juan Diego Botto, Terry Kinney and Lusia Strus also star.

TMINE’s verdict

Basically trying to do sexy conwoman/hitman fun but badly, since our heroine is a bit dense and doesn’t seem to realise that hitmen kill people for a living. Also, the plot doesn’t make any sense. Ever.

Episode reviews: 1, 2

Dimension 404 (US: Hulu; UK: Syfy UK)
Premiere date: October 3, 9pm

Dimension 404 is a science fiction anthology that explores the wonders – and terrors – of our digital age. From outrageous horror comedy to mind-bending action adventure, each episode tells a weird and wild sci-fi story, where the twist ending is just the beginning. Do not click back. Do not reload. You have reconnected… to Dimension 404. The series is produced by Lionsgate Television and across its six episode first season features a range of well-known actors including Patton Oswalt, Joel McHale, Lea Michele and Sarah Hyland.

TMINE verdict

Sounds a bit like they’re trying to do Black Mirror, don’t you think? Haven’t seen it, though.

The Good Place
Airdates

When’s that show you mentioned starting again, TMINE? Including The Good Place, The Gifted and Star

Every Friday, TMINE lets you know the latest announcements about when new imported TV shows will finally be arriving on UK screens – assuming anyone’s bought anything, of course

A little bit earlier expected, I know, but hey – it’s nearly September and there have been a few announcements, so I figured easing back into the swing of things with a round-up of all of August’s acquisitions and premiere dates might be a good idea.

First off, in acquisitions:

  • The Good Doctor (US: ABC; UK: Sky Living)
Freddie Highmore is an autistic savant surgeon. Hasn’t aired in the US yet
  • Reformation (Germany: ZDF; UK: BBC Four)
Martin Luther biopic. Hasn’t aired in Germany yet!
  • Snowfall (US: FX; UK: BBC Two)
Cocaine drama set in 80s LA. I watched the first few episodes but it wasn’t that great.
    Episode reviews: 1, 2, 3
  • The Valley (Germany: TNT Serie; UK: Shudder)
A young man who has lost his memory wakes up near the corpse of a young woman hanging in the harvested grapes.
  • Ronny Chieng: International Student (Australia: ABC; UK: BBC Three)
Ostensibly Daily Show correspondent Ronny Chieng in a semi-autobiographical comedy about life at an Australian University – but basically Oz’s answer to Spaced. I ended up recommending it
    Episode reviews: 1-2, 3, 4, 5, 6

But we also have some premiere dates.

Spike TV's The Mist

When’s that show you mentioned starting again, TMINE? Including The Mist

Every Friday, TMINE lets you know the latest announcements about when new imported TV shows will finally be arriving on UK screens

No new acquisitions this week, but we do have one new premiere date: all 10 episodes of Spike TV (US)’s adaptation of Stephen King’s The Mist are going to be on Netflix from August 25th. Actually, that might be a new acquisition, because I didn’t know that Netflix had acquired it, but at the very least, that’s very definitely the premiere date. As for whether it’s worth watching, I reviewed the first episode but wasn’t impressed.

Hulu's East Los High
Airdates

When’s that show you mentioned starting again, TMINE? Including East Los High

Every Friday, TMINE lets you know the latest announcements about when new, imported TV shows will finally be arriving on UK screens

Very slow week this week. Very slow. In fact, there’s only been one acquisition this week:

East Los High

My5 – you know, Channel 5’s on-demand service that you’re always using – has acquired this just-cancelled Hulu (US) show. I know literally nothing about it, since it’s basically for young adults, but here’s what Wikipedia has to say:

East Los High is a five-time Emmy nominated Hulu original series that revolves around the lives of a group of teens navigating their final years at a fictional high school in East LA. Created, written, and produced by Wise Entertainment, the series is Hulu’s first and only series with an all Latino cast and crew and is predominantly filmed in East Los Angeles. The producers of the show work closely with numerous public health organizations to incorporate information within the storylines that encourage young Latinos to make healthy life choices

Anyway, it lasted four seasons and you’ll be able to watch it on My5 at some point, maybe soon, maybe not. I’ll let you know when there’s an official date, but you won’t have to wait to watch the first episode, since Hulu’s put it up on YouTube for y’all:

False Flag
Airdates

When’s that show you mentioned starting again, TMINE? Including כפולים (False Flag), Blood Drive and What Would Diplo Do?

Every Friday, TMINE lets you know the latest announcements about when new, imported TV shows will finally be arriving on UK screens

No fewer than three premiere dates for you this week. First up is Israel’s כפולים (False Flag), which aired on Channel 2 there in 2015 but has now been acquired by Fox UK. An eight-parter created by Amit Cohen and Maria Feldman and inspired by the real-life assassination of a Hamas leader by Mossad agents, it sees five Israeli citizens find themselves implicated in a ruthless kidnapping operation following the disappearance of the Iranian Defence Minister while on a secret visit to Moscow. It stars Ishai Golan, Maggie Azarzar, Ania Bukstein, Angel Bonanni, Orna Salinger and Mickey Leon, and starts 31 July at 9pm.

The less said about the severely awful Blood Drive, the better, but in case my review of the first episode didn’t put you off, it starts 10 August at 10pm.

Lastly, What Would Diplo Do? premieres on Viceland on 18 October at 10pm. Coincidentally, I wrote about that this week, so I won’t repeat myself.
