What have you been watching? Including The Guest Book, SMILF and Blade Runner 2049

It’s “What have you been watching?”, my chance to tell you each week what movies and TV I’ve been watching recently and your chance to recommend anything you’ve been watching. TMINE recommends has all the reviews of all the TV shows TMINE has ever recommended, but for a complete list of TMINE’s reviews of (good, bad and insipid) TV shows and movies, there’s the definitive TV Reviews A-Z and Film Reviews A-Z

It’s been a quieter week than last week, so there haven’t been as many new shows to watch as before. Mario Van Peebles’s southern BuffySuperstition (US: Syfy; UK: Netflix), I’ve already reviewed and I’ve passed a third-episode verdict on Matt Nix’s ‘The X-Men universe without The X-Men’ show The Gifted (US: Fox; UK: Fox UK).

But that doesn’t mean this week’s WHYBW is going to be an empty affair. For starters, I forgot to review Blade Runner 2049 last week. Oops.

But there’s been one new show I haven’t yet covered, The Guest Book (US: TBS), which comes from the pen of Greg Garcia (My Name is Earl), and there’s a forthcoming show, SMILF (US: Showtime; UK: Sky Atlantic), that I’ll be previewing, too.

I’ll also be running through the latest episodes of the regulars: The Brave, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Great News, Marvel’s Inhumans, Mr Robot, My Myself and I, Professor T, SEAL Team, Star Trek: Discovery, Travelers, and Will & Grace. At least one of these is for the chop – can you guess which one?

The Incredible Hulk Returns

Thor: Ragnarok or The Incredible Hulk Returns – which will be better?

Thor: Ragnarok‘s out in UK cinemas today. In it, you’ll get to see Thor fighting both against and with The Incredible Hulk.

It’s not their first time, of course. You’re thinking of when Hulk let loose on the SHIELD carrier in The Avengers/Avengers Assemble aren’t you?

But there was a previous meeting. Back in the late 80s, Marvel was busily trying to launch all manner of superhero TV shows based on its comics. In particular, given that The Incredible Hulk had been an incredibly successful TV series in the 70s/early 80s, it decided to try to launch all manner of spin-offs off the back of some reunion movies for The Incredible Hulk. And The Incredible Hulk Returns was the movie chosen to try to create a Thor TV series.

Here’s a clip, in which Thor and the Hulk have a spat.

I’m reckoning that Thor: Ragnarok‘s going to be better. Call it a hunch.

When’s that show you mentioned starting, TMINE? Including Ghosted, Marvel’s The Punisher, Jean-Claude Van Johnson, Fresh Off The Boat and La Mante (The Mantis)

Every Friday, TMINE lets you know the latest announcements about when new imported TV shows will finally be arriving on UK screens – assuming anyone’s bought anything, of course

Quite a few acquisitions this week, but only one for which we don’t have an exact airdate: Kanal 5 (Denmark)’s Gidseltagningen (Below The Surface), which will air some time next year on BBC4.

Oddly, we already had a premiere date for Netflix’s Godless (November 22), but we didn’t have a trailer until now, so let’s fill in that gap right now:
