Comedy gods on Richard and Judy next week

Richard and Judy’s PR dropped me a line yesterday to let me know there are going to be a few comedy gods (of varying stature) dropping by their studios next week. The schedule is:

  • Bill Bailey (TX: Friday 12th December)
  • The Mighty Boosh (TX: Wednesday 17th December)
  • Jimmy Carr (TX: Thursday 18th December)
  • Ruth Jones (TX: Thursday 18th December)

Alan Titchmarsh is going to be on the 17th as well, just in case that sways you into watching. Remember, slacker student types, Richard and Judy are now on Watch at 8pm.

Playing Shop with Robert Webb and David Mitchell

I’d not heard of this, but it’s filming this month. How odd:

PLAYING SHOP

Playing Shop is a new sitcom written by and starring David Mitchell and Robert Webb (Peep Show).

They play Eric and Jamie, two of the most dynamic, practical and driven men ever to try and run a business out of a garden shed. Convinced that everyone else involved in commerce are idiots, they think that this insight alone will make them millionaires.

To such men, redundancy is just an opportunity – an opportunity to blow all their money on two massive trips to Rymans. Armed with new computers, state-of-the-art stationery and a blogger’s contempt for the rest of mankind, all they have to do is sit back and wait for greatness to be thrust upon them. Oh and somehow earn enough money to keep themselves in lager and snacks.

They’re up a creek basically, although they have got a paddle – they’re just not sure whether they can be bothered to use it. Welcome to the epic struggle of two men attempting to make a fast buck without getting up before eleven or ever missing “Bargain Hunt”.

If you would like to join us for this brand new comedy on Saturday 20th December at Teddington Studios, then apply now!

Anyone else think Robert Webb was really good on Buzzcocks last night, by the way?

(The Fall and Rise of Reginald) Perrin remake with Martin Clunes filming

Yes, they really are remaking it and you can see it being filmed, you lucky (?) people:

We thought that you might be interested to know that audience tickets are now available for a brand new series starring Martin Clunes!

PERRIN

Inspired by the original books and TV series of the 70s, PERRIN updates the world of the classic sitcom character Reginald Perrin, placing it and him in 2009.

Starring Martin Clunes, PERRIN is a modern story of a deskbound sales executive combating personal crises with flights of fancy, pushed by personal and work related stress towards insanity.

The show will be taping at Teddington Studios. If you would like to join us, then apply now!

The show will take place on Wednesday 10th December at 7.00pm and then Saturday 3rd & Friday 9th January.

Booking is now open and may apply online via our website at http://www.sroaudiences.com

Quentin Crisp tribute evening

As you may have noticed from my December/January BFI highlights, the preview originally promised in November of An Englishman in New York – the sequel to The Naked Civil Servant – doesn’t seem to be happening. However, I just got a note that there will be at least a mini-preview in December:

Hello there!

Just saw your blog post about what’s happening at the BFI this December, and being sad that An Englishman in NY won’t be shown. Just thought I would let you know there will clips of this ITV drama shown at a Quentin Crisp Tribute evening here at Southbank Centre on the 13th of December! We’re only a couple of big brutalist buidlings down from the BFI!
