Simon Says – Simon Munnery pilot for Radio 4

I mentioned Simon Munnery a while back: now he’s recording a pilot on Radio 4. I can’t go but why don’t you?

9 December, BBC Radio Theatre
Book now

We’d like to invite you along to a pilot recording of Simon Says, a new show for Radio 4.

Winner of the Nobel Prize for Effort, award winning comedian, Simon Munnery delivers his low down on life.

Using stand-up comedy, music, and top comedy guest Reginald D Hunter, the programme tackles some of life’s big issues.

This week: Relationships.
The audience will also play a key role in this, as you are being asked to take part in a special Questions and Answers session, with Simon and his guest, as part of the show.

So have you always wanted to be on the radio?
Do you have any burning questions about relationships?

Well now’s your chance. Rest assured, you will not be ridiculed, but do come armed with any thoughts or problems you want to put to them; they may not solve them all for you, but they will make you laugh.

Today's Joanna Page

Today’s Joanna Page: Cinderella (again)

© Scott Matthewman

Today’s Joanna Page comes from THE BEST AND LUCKIEST MAN IN THE UNIVERSE, Scott Matthewman, who recently interviewed JP for The Stage. He took lots of lovely pictures of our Joanna and was generous enough to offer this one to the blog. It’s his so don’t nick it, anyone.

As you might have noticed, she’s in full costume as Cinderella to publicise her panto role this year. Notably:

  1. She’s going to have to sing. With Gareth Gates. Not at all nerve-wracking then
  2. Her hubby’s playing Dandini

Joannaphiles can consult the blog’s looks at Mine All Mine and Bye, Bye Harry for previous instances of these phenomena.

The CSI: Miami drinking game

I’ve already ‘aside’-ed this, but I thought it merited its own post. So here it is.

Now it’s no great secret that David Caruso isn’t much loved on the set of CSI: Miami. Or that Emily Procter and he don’t get along and haven’t done since season one.

But if you’ve been watching seasons six and seven, you’ll have noticed that they’ve been having fewer and fewer scenes together. In fact, one or two a season seems to be the count, even when that makes a nonsense of the plot. In fact, you could even make a long-term drinking game out of it all.

The question is though: have the producers noticed that we’ve noticed? Take a look at this scene. It looks like Procter and Caruso are in the same scene. Yet… they don’t exchange dialogue and when they are in the same shot, it’s a long shot and you can’t see both of their faces – I doubt they’re using doubles but odder things have happened…

So are they actually in the same scene or not? What do you think?
