Random Acts of Ali Larter: Achieving Name-Check Status

The first season cast of Heroes

This week, Ali Larter has mostly been achieving name-check status on The Office thanks to Obsessed:

But she’s also been off shooting something – a short film possibly involving food or drink for Absolut – with Amanda De Cadenet for five days in one of the most famous houses in Los Angeles.

As if that weren’t enough, she’s also joined up with all the other members of the Heroes cast to send a farewell message to fans:

Heroes started as a story about ordinary people that tapped into the dreams and fears in all of us. It made us believe, and it inspired and entertained us on so many levels. I remember reading the pilot, and you just new it was something special. Being so drawn to Nikki… She felt so bare and daring at the same time. I felt so lucky to work with such a talented cast and crew. They always cared about the work, and always wanted to make an environment where we could soar creatively. Heroes pushed me, challenged me, and gave me some of the greatest rewards in my life. Friends and memories that I will cherish forever. There is one reason that we had that chance, and it is because of the undying support of out true fans. For that, I am forever grateful. xx, Ali

Nice.

But what am I going to watch instead of Heroes now?

Random Acts of Ali Larter: busy, busy, busy

Ali Larter in denim

Busy, busy, busy, our Ali. Not only has she been to another book launch (Derek Blasberg’s Classy – Exceptional Advice for the Extremely Modern Lady) wearing denim – ooh, radical – not only has she been off helping the Relational Center, she’s just been nominated at the MTV Awards for best fight scene and declared 91st sexiest woman in the world by FHM.

And she’s off to the Monte Carlo Television Festival on behalf of Heroes. I’d be knackered if I were her.

Random Acts of Ali Larter: Going to the White House with Fox News

This week, Ali Larter’s been going to the White House Correspondents Dinner as the guest of Fox News. No, I don’t know what’s going on there, although our Ali does like to watch YouTube clips of mentalists on Glenn Beck’s show, so maybe she was hoping for something similar to happen:

I don’t have any pictures of our Ali going to the White House, but look, here’s Scarlett Johansson going as the guest of the much more excusable Huffington Post.

And since this is “random acts”, here’s Ellen Degeneres scaring her with a giant bumblebee.

Random Acts of Ali Larter: Envying Mad Men

Ali Larter in Resident Evil Afterlife

Those set interviews from Resident Evil: Afterlife just keep rolling in. Now our Ali’s talking about what movies she’ll be doing next, as well as what TV.

I was just hearing that some scripts were being sent up. For me, it’s like I’ve gotten my dose of this, I’ve gotten to do some great dramatic stuff, especially working on Obsessed, which was an incredible experience for me. Now, maybe a little comedy or, I don’t know. Maybe a love story. Who knows? We’ll see what’s next.

It turns out that as well as having a few doubts about whether/how long she’ll be in Heroes for, she envies Mad Men.

You also see when you go onto cable and they allow the creators to have their vision. You look at Mad Men and he’s like, in every, they don’t come shouting down. There’s not ten studio heads screaming at them, they have to rewrite this or rewrite that or overwrite it to over explain it. For me, we’ll see how long I’m on the show and if I do go into television again, it will be in a situation where, whoever the creator is, has the power to keep their vision clean. And that’s to me what I think the greatest problem is right now on network.

Q: You’re a fan of Mad Men?

Oh, who isn’t? It’s so spectacular and, you know, I’ll laugh with my husband when we watch it after because you just thinking, “Three minutes have gone by and no one’s said anything.” Isn’t that amazing. You get to live and breathe with these characters and as an actor, that’s one of, at least for me, one of the most thrilling things is being able to discover things in the moment and there’s not a lot of room for that in a lot of movies. So, that’s one side of it. Maybe I’ll get to do a little breathing after this.

Look, here’s a trailer for the movie, you lucky people, and you can listen to the interview here.
