Smell the TV coffee:
Doctor Who
- David Tennant is probably contracted to do the fourth series of Doctor Who.
Film
British TV
- Dirk Benedict might be appearing in Celebrity Big Brother.
- Matt Lucas probably won’t be Friar Tuck after all.
- BBC2 controller Roly Keating has gone Heroes mental. After yesterday’s Torchwood blather, he’s now claiming, “There wasn’t much at the L.A. Screenings that caught our eye this year, but ‘Heroes’ did”. Right. And that’s why you only bought the terrestrial first-run rights last month, is it?
- Blake’s 7 is back! But as audio plays and without any of the original cast. Plus they’re each going to be only five minutes long, according to reports, so more of a podcast than a play really. This Life‘s Daniela Nardini will play Servalan. Colin Salmon is going to be Avon. I hear Robin of Sherwood‘s Michael Praed and Big Finish’s Charley Pollard, India Fisher herself, are going to be appearing, too. And so is Doug Bradley – Pinhead from Hellraiser but also swimming instructor for Direct Line. Oddness, huh?
US TV
- ABC is working on a modern-day version of Raymond Chandler’s Philip Marlowe. None of Chandler’s original stories will be used.
- David Cohen spills the beans on the new season of Futurama.
- Bryan Fuller, currently exec producer on Heroes but also one of the people behind Dead Like Me, Traveler and Wonderfalls, has a pilot, too. Pushing Daisies will be a “romance-tinged procedural” about a man who can touch dead people and bring them back to life. He’s also working on Alice, an interpretation of Alice in Wonderland.
- Tim Kring has apologised for de-gaying a character in Heroes
