Cloak and Dagger
Airdates

When’s that show you mentioned starting, TMINE? Including AMO, The Crossing and Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger

Every Friday, TMINE lets you know when the latest TV shows from around the world will air in the UK

Three acquisitions this week and three premiere dates, too. Some start next week!

The Crossing

The Crossing (US: ABC; UK: Amazon)
Premiere date: Tuesday, April 3

Sci-fi show about refugees from the future. Excitingly, I previewed it this week, so I won’t elaborate further here.

AMO

AMO (Philippines: TV5; UK: Netflix)
Premiere date: Monday, April 9

The first series Netflix’s has picked up from the Philippines, AMO follows a high school student who starts dealing drugs before finding himself mixed up in a dark underworld of crime.

Cloak and Dagger

Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger (US: Freeform; UK: Amazon)
Premiere date: Friday, June 8

This is going to be airing the day after it airs in the US, so I haven’t seen it yet. Here’s Wiki’s explanation:

Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson, two teenagers from different backgrounds, acquire superpowers while forming a romantic relationship. They soon realise that their powers work better when they are together, “but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging.”

And here’s a trailer.

Review: Alex, Inc 1×1 (US: ABC)

In the US: Wednesdays, 8.30/7.30c, ABC

How do you make money from podcasts? It’s an interesting question, the answer to which is usually “adverts”. But no one really makes much money that way.

One company that does seem to make money from podcasts is Gimlet Media, which was founded by journalist Alex Blumberg and produces business podcasts. I say it makes money, but really it’s just attracted a lot of seed funding and printed a load of T-shirts… while a whole bunch of people at Gimlet set up divisions and hire other people to try to work out how to make money from podcasts.

So far, their best idea seems to be: come up with ideas that they can sell to other people, who can turn them into things that actually do make money. So not podcasts then.

First up is Alex, Inc, a sitcom starring Scrubs‘s Zach Braff that’s based on Gimlet Media’s ‘StartUp’ podcast. Warning: you are just about to fall down a rabbit hole. What was StartUp about? It was all about Blumberg’s own attempt to launch Gimlet Media.

I wonder if the first season will end with Zach Braff agreeing to play the role of Zach Braff in a new TV series that’s all about the making of Alex, Inc.

What have you been watching? Including Splitting Up Together and Roseanne

It’s “What have you been watching?”, your chance to recommend anything you’ve been watching this week

It’s the last WHYBW for a fortnight, as TMINE is off on its Easter holidays next week. Naturally, a whole bunch of new shows have been timed to coincide with this, presumably as part of some super-villain’s masterplan to give me a stress-induced heart attack.

In the past week, I’ve reviewed (and even previewed):

On top of that, I’ll be looking at ABC (US)’s Splitting Up Together and Roseanne after the jump, too. But I’ve still got Trust (US: FX; UK: Sky Atlantic) and The Terror (US: AMC; UK: AMC Global) in the viewing queue, although there’s a little time before they air in the UK, so if I don’t manage to work my way through them in the next couple of days, I’ll do my best when I get back. Let’s see how it goes.

However, Grey’s Anatomy spin-off Station 19 is never going to be my cup of tea, so I’ll give that a miss, and CTV (Canada)’s The Detail might be equally unlucky, but I’ll do my best.

Counterpart and Will & Grace were on holiday this week, so after the jump, as well as Roseanne and Splitting Up Together, I’ll be looking at the usual regulars: Black Lightning, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, The Good Fight, Harow, Instinct, The Looming Tower, The Magicians, SEAL Team and Timeless, as well as the returning Silicon Valley.
