Today’s Sitting Tennant: Jonathan Ross

David Tennant on Jonathan Ross

Today’s Sitting Tennant for the weekend is from me, because for some reason no one has been looking for pictures of David Tennant sitting down. Or if they have, they’ve been keeping the results to themselves. Selfish.

This is from his appearance on Jonathan Ross‘s show back in 2005. I leave it up to you intrepid caption writers to work out what his next trick will be.

The picture competition leader board, of course, stays the same as last time, since we have no new entrants. Shame. Where’s the Tennant love, I ask you?

  1. Jaradel, Rullsenberg: 1

However, the caption competition is as vibrant as always. Rullsenberg gets double points for her… well, you decide. Does she know something we don’t know about DT or does her mind just work in a certain way? Meanwhile, Tobes and Jane Henry get a half-point each for their topical inauguration-related captions.

That means the scoreboard now stands as follows, with Marie retaining her lead, and Jaradel over-taking the Canadian farming collective while they debate whether five-year plans are inimicable to true communism or a necessary evil within pre-communist socialism, rather than doing something important like captioning David Tennant:

  1. Marie: 5.5
  2. Toby, Jane Henry: 4.5
  3. Rev/Views, Rullsenberg: 4
  4. Jaradel: 3
  5. Aaron, Persephone: 2

As always, captions and new submissions for the gallery, please. Remember, you can submit as many (witty) captions as you like for each and every picture, with topical captions (and pictures of David Tennant in current productions) getting extra marks. The wittiest caption for each picture will get double points.

Got a picture of David Tennant sitting, lying down or in some indeterminate state in between? Then leave a link to it below and if it’s judged suitable, it will appear in the “Sitting Tennant” gallery. Sitting Tennant

Today’s Sitting Tennant (from Rullsenberg): The Next Doctor

Today’s bonus Sitting Tennant is from Ms Rullsenberg, whose picture of a sedentary David Tennant I so cruelly left at home last week. It’s from The Next Doctor, I think, although to be honest I have absolutely no idea. Clearly though, it’s an imitation of the famous cantina scene from Star Wars, although from where the Doctor’s going to produce his gun, I wouldn’t like to say.

That gives us the following leader board for the picture competition:

  1. Jaradel, Rullsenberg: 1

Ooh, exciting. You wait ’til it hots up like the caption competition because it’s all go there. Marie, taking to heart the ruling that back-related captions are no longer topical, went for a Hudson river comment, earning herself a bonus half mark. But it was Rev/Views’ venture in surrealism that earned him the title of wittiest caption composer this time round, with the associated double points prize, taking him into joint second place.

That means the scoreboard now stands as follows:

  1. Marie: 4.5
  2. Jane Henry, Toby, Rev/Views: 3
  3. Aaron, Persephone, Rullsenberg: 2
  4. Jaradel: 1

Sitting Tennant

Today’s Sitting Tennants (from Jaradel): Glastonbury

Today’s Sitting Tennant comes from new arrival Jaradel – there’d be one from Ms Rullsenberg too only unforgivably I left it at home, so we might have a bonus ST next week. Thanks, Jaradel, and welcome to Sitting Tennant! That means she is now the leader of Sitting Tennant 2009’s picture competition, with one point to her name.

Jardel’s picture is from Glastonbury, apparently, and it’s either supposed to indicate what David Tennant looks like when he gets out of bed in the morning or it’s an indication that he’d quite like to be a New Age shaman, given half a chance. It’s not definite whether he’s sitting or not, but I think if we all imagine his bottom, it’s clear that he is.

The first Sitting Tennant of 2009 provoked an onslaught of witty and amusing captions. Most entertaining was Aaron’s, clearly a man who has looked into the abyss himself, so he gets double points. Incidentally, I must unfortunately declare that references to back problems are no longer topical so don’t get an extra half mark – sorry, but his back’s fine now.

That means the scoreboard now stands as follows (assuming I can count straight):

  1. Marie, Jane Henry, Aaron, Toby: 2
  2. Rev/Views, Persephone, Rullsenberg, Jaradel: 1

As always, captions and new submissions for the gallery, please. Remember, you can submit as many (witty) captions as you like for each and every picture, with topical captions (and pictures of David Tennant in current productions) getting extra marks. Sitting Tennant

Sitting Tennant 2009 starts now

David Tennant in the Boots ad

As usual, a little something for the weekend – a Sitting Tennant, the first of 2009. As you can see, DT is busily seeing who won 2008’s competition.

The scores are reset, everything’s back to zero. Captions and pictures, please. On your marks, get set, go!
