Sitting Tennant

Today’s Sitting/Reclining Tennants (from Rullsenberg): Midnight and Hamlet (?)

David Tennant in Hamlet

Today’s Sitting/Reclining Tennants come from Ms Rullsenberg again, who seems ever more intent to get the Sitting Tennant title two years in a row. They’re from the Doctor Who episode Midnight and from Hamlet and feature him in a reclining position – I’m sure that there’ll be much debate as to whether their degree of sittingness is entirely valid – and with his mouth open.

That means the scoreboard for the picture competition now stands as follows:

  1. Rullsenberg: 8
  2. Jaradel: 3
  3. Rosby: 2.5

Witty captions-wise, for topicality, Marie chose to get ill again, which is the kind of dedication to Sitting Tennnant that needs to be rewarded; a whole lot of people picked up on the strangely compelling blonde lift back on a certain popular meme I could mention; and a few people picked up on my disappearing Internet connection (it’s already back today, apparently, but I’m not at home to test it). Wittiest caption for picture 1 (although it spreads a bit onto other pictures) was Marie‘s; picture 2’s Ghost-related caption from Ms Rullsenberg entertained me the most; while Persephone was top of the picture 3 captioners.

  1. Marie: 24.5
  2. Toby: 19.5
  3. Jane Henry: 18.5
  4. Persephone: 15.5
  5. Rullsenberg: 13
  6. Rev/Views, Jaradel: 10
  7. Scott, Electric Dragon: 3
  8. Aaron: 2

As always, captions and new submissions for the gallery, please. Remember, you can submit as many (witty) captions as you like for each and every picture, with topical captions (and pictures of David Tennant in current productions) getting extra marks. The wittiest caption for each picture will get double points. And there’s a bonus point for using Gary Numan lyrics appropriately.

Sitting Tennant scores

I didn’t have time on Friday to tally up the Sitting Tennant scores from the previous week. However, as promised, here are the new scoreboards. They don’t reflect Friday’s activities – you’ll just have to wait until the end of the week to find out how you’re all doing.

Pictures

  1. Rullsenberg: 6
  2. Jaradel: 3
  3. Rosby: 2.5

Witty captions
The wittiest caption for picture 1 was Marie’s not quite topical but still pithy comment, while Ms Rullsenberg’s Reader’s Digest comment was best caption for picture 2. I’m actually surprised no one used the strange perspective on picture 1 to wonder what David was trying to make the helper in the orange anorak do.

  1. Marie: 20
  2. Toby: 16.5
  3. Persephone: 13
  4. Jane Henry: 10
  5. Rullsenberg: 9
  6. Rev/Views, Jaradel: 7
  7. Scott: 3
  8. Aaron: 2
  9. Electric Dragon: 1

I’m in a bit of a rush this morning and am out all day, so I can’t do the full scoring and awards for last week’s Sitting Tennants – I’ll do that on Monday, assuming I have a working Internet connection in my new flat by then (fingers crossed!). So instead, I’ll just leave you with these pictures to caption over the weekend and next week – two from Ms Rullsenberg and one from Ms Jaradel, which is from the Partners in Crime script read-through.

Away you go!

Sitting Tennant

Today’s Sitting Tennants (from Rosby and Rullsenberg): The Stolen Earth and Partners in Crime

Billie Piper and David Tennant

David Tennant in Partners in Crime

Time for the weekly Sitting Tennants. In this case, we have two Doctor Who shots, one from Ms Rosby showing behind-the-scenes fun during The Stolen Earth, and one from Ms Rullsenberg in which David Tennant is channelling Colin Baker during Partners in Crime: “See the pretty thing swing back and forth.” Phnar, Phnar.

That means Rosby’s clawed her way into second place on our picture competition leader board:

  1. Rullsenberg: 4
  2. Rosby: 2.5
  3. Jaradel: 2

In the witty caption competition section, there’s much confusion (in my head anyway) over exactly how many pictures everyone’s captioning with each comment. But fingers crossed, this is how it stands, with Marie’s super-powered, story-telling, four-picture-captioning wittiest and topical* comment giving her an unprecedented nine points and taking her to the top of the leader board.

Oh, yes, and a bonus point to Persephone for using Gary Numan lyrics. What? You didn’t know about that secret rule? Must have slipped my mind.

  1. Marie: 16
  2. Toby: 12.5
  3. Jane Henry: 10
  4. Persephone: 9
  5. Rullsenberg: 6
  6. Rev/Views, Jaradel: 5
  7. Scott: 3
  8. Aaron: 2
  9. Electric Dragon: 1

Today’s Sitting Tennant (from Jaradel, Rullsenberg and Rosby): Driving to Hamlet

David Tennant

What’s that coming over the hill? Is it a monster? No, it’s actually four pictures of David Tennant sitting down, and for the most part, driving – what are you? Blind?

Yes. it’s time for this week’s Sitting Tennant, and the call to photo-arms has been answered by not one, not two, but three devoted Tennant lovers: Mesdames Rullsenberg, Jaradel and Rosby.

With the exception of the triumphal return entry from last year’s runner-up Rosby, who gets the bonus half point for a topical picture from Hamlet, they’re all of Wavy Davy driving – or using his heat vision in the case of Ms Jaradel’s submission.

This gives us the following exciting new picture competition leader board, Ms Rullsenberg having provided two of the pictures:

  1. Rullsenberg: 3
  2. Jaradel: 2
  3. Rosby: 1.5

Exciting, huh? Won’t anyone else come in to play?

Meanwhile, back at the caption competition, there’s been a switch at the top. Although the photo lended itself somewhat to topical captions, resulting in a lot of half points being handed out, Marie has been overtaken by Toby, who used the simple mechanism of writing three captions to take the lead. And for the first time, we have a tie for wittiest caption, with both Persephone and new entrant Scott getting double points.

That means everyone’s very nicely spaced out now:

  1. Toby: 8
  2. Marie: 7
  3. Jane Henry: 6
  4. Rev/Views, Rullsenberg: 5
  5. Persephone: 4
  6. Scott, Jaradel: 3
  7. Aaron: 2
