Following on from last week’s quiet week, we have another quiet week for Diana, with just the current usual suspects offering us any appearances by the Amazon princess: Injustice: Gods Among Us: Year Three and Sensation Comics. This week, more punching and a teenage Wonder Woman gets involved in a dance-off. See if you can guess which is which.
Sensation Comics #23
Plot
It’s Riley’s birthday and all her friends are there, but they won’t let her play her favourite game. Cos she’s a girl.
Fortunately for her, a teenager Diana has just swum from Paradise Island. And she’s going to help Riley… by winning a dance-off.
But the Amazons want their princess back…
Is it any good?
Well, as you can probably tell from the fact I could summarise the whole thing in four pages, there’s not much to it. And you can probably also tell this is a bit of fluff aimed at youngsters rather than anything for adults, with little niceties about Diana being able to speak English, etc, ignored.
But for what it is, it’s fine. The artwork’s pretty and appropriate. It’s all good fun. Just not really for adults.
Rating: 2/5 (4/5 for kids)
Injustice: Gods Among Us: Year Three #19Plot
Trigon and Mister Mxyzptlk have a fight.
Wonder Woman has to get Clark to safety.
Unfortunately, Constantine and co are waiting for them and manage to beat them up, because they’re so knackered.
Unfortunately for Constantine and co, Swamp Thing turns up.
Is it any good?
More punching, different punching partners, basically. Nice to see that moment of tenderness between Diana and Clark, not so nice to see all of them defeated quite so easily, despite their knackerment.
Onwards to the next fight next issue then, I guess. Who’s going to be hitting whom, I wonder?
Rating: 2/5
Disclaimer: Owing to the small fortune it would take to buy every single DC comic each week, this is not a guaranteed rundown of all the comics that feature Wonder Woman. If you know of any I’ve missed, email me or leave a comment below and I’ll cover them the following week
