Sitting Tennant (week 2, 2011)

Janice's Sitting Tennant

Blimey. Week two already. Look at that would you. So sudden thought – we’re getting quite a lot of Sitting Tennants in the pile now, enough that Friday’s Sitting Tennant might make a comeback soon. But should we reward quantity or quality? Basically, if we stick with 10 points for a Tuesday Tennant, should we reward a Friday Tennant with 5 points or none? Does the current scoring system favour those who can find lots of pictures over those who can find just one or two really good ones? Or will that unfairly discriminate against those who find lots of good Tennants? What do you think?

Either way, today’s excellent Sitting Tennant was provided by new arrival Janice – everyone thank her!

  1. Rullsenberg, Hebbie, Janice: 10

Over in the first week of captions, it’s SK who gets the first 10 points of the year. Congratulations! Good luck this week, everyone, and thanks for taking part!

  1. SK: 10
  2. Virpl, Marie, Rullsenberg, Joe B, Electric Dragon, theriverlady: 5

Got a picture of David Tennant sitting, lying down or in some indeterminate state in between? Then leave a link to it below or email me and if it’s judged suitable, it will appear in the “Sitting Tennant” gallery. Don’t forget to include your name in the filename so I don’t get mixed up about who sent it to me.

The best pic in the stash each week will appear on Tuesday and get ten points.

You can also enter the witty and amusing captions league table by commenting on the photo, the best caption getting 10 points, everyone who contributes getting five points.

“Upset that the school cafeteria had run out of chips, the class clown, little Davey McDonald, refused to smile throughout the rest of lunch.”

  • So there I was, doing my John Lennon impression – you know, just singing “We’re born in a prison, raised in a prison,Sent to a prison called school” – when this van pulls up and I’m nicked! I had no idea that a bad Beatles impression was a criminal offense. Well, they won’t be able to keep me in this cell for very long!

  • The prospect of fatherhood was beginning to sink in…..

  • Do you think the Bieber look works for me? Or should I give the Rachel a try?

  • SK

Their first attempt at creating a teenage clone from the Doctor’s DNA was less perky than the one the producers eventually went with.
(PS thanks to Marie for suggesting the comic area I went with for the last one.)

  • [sung to the tune of ‘what a difference a day makes’]
“what a difference hair gel makes,
    Twenty-four little hair-strands
Will make all of the girl fans
    Fall to their knees!”

  • BTW THANKS to janice – super pouty pic there! and also congrats to SK for last weeks caption! Woo! Sitting Tennant lives!
On the subject of the points issue – we’ll bow to your superior decision-making. I think I sent you a random suggestion before it was certain ST was coming back. Fridays are a pretty bonus, but you are right that it can reward volume over quality. A bit like your shift to just award points for contributors to the caption comp rather than points for every entry (which tended to reward those with lots of random thoughts over one-off top-notch punning, smut and savvy observations)*
We can still get the credits for submission of other Friday pics, but perhaps it puts less pressure on the scoreboard or keeping track of who sends in the same pic…?
*Mind, having said that it sometimes takes me a few goes to nail something half decent in terms of a caption!

  • Marie

    No. NOOOO. NO!!! NO!!!! NO!!!!!!
This may or may not qualify as a caption. You decide. I need to go and lie down in a feotal position in a darkened room. OH, DAVID! WHY HAST THOU FORSAKEN ME?

  • Marie

“(PS thanks to Marie for suggesting the comic area I went with for the last one.)”
Thanks SK, I cannot accept any credit, the genius is all yours.

  • Bassy Galore

Totally not a caption, just an observation at how pouty he was in his youth.

  • Electric Dragon

Casting began for the live action remake of Japanese anime Mahō kagaku taimutoraberā dokutoru wu (Magical Number One Time Scientist Doctor Who).
Apologies to all Japanese speakers for use of Google Translate.
