Weekly Wonder Woman: Superman/Wonder Woman #9, Justice League Beyond #22

Superman/Wonder Woman #9

So what’s Diana been up to this week. Well, normally, we can rely on Charles Soule and Tony Daniel to liven up our months with their regular Superman/Wonder Woman. However, in case you’d forgotten, we’re in the middle of ‘Superman: Doomed’, and so for once, the title has lost some of its sheen, thanks to an extensive cast of guest characters, including the Red Lanterns. Still Wonder Woman did get to enter the Games Grid again – you’ll see what I mean.

Meanwhile, back in the future, Lord Superman and Wonder Woman are having a really incomprehensible fight in Justice League Beyond. But we can talk about that after the jump.

Wendy's Superman/Wonder Woman

After the previous week’s glut of Wonder Woman appearances, the Amazon princess only clocked up three appearances this week, two of them not especially great, although one of them’s particularly interesting. We had the continuation of the ‘Superman: Doomed’ plot in Superman #31, which involved a bit of hand-wringing by Diana; the Justice League Beyond ‘The Return of Wonder Woman’ storyline also continued with yet another marriage flashback.

Wonder Woman 31

It’s another bumper week for Wonder Woman as not only do we have the latest in her standalone, eponymous title, Wonder Woman, which continues the war between the First Born and basically everyone else, we finally have the conclusion of the Forever Evil storyline where Wonder Woman and her lasso save the day through a link to one of the people you probably weren’t expecting, and we also have the latest instalment of the Doomsday saga in Batman-Superman #11, which doesn’t feature Superman at all, so Wonder Woman deputises for him. Really should have been Batman-Wonder Woman, in fact, particularly given how the Forever Evil storyline concludes…

And although this is Weekly Wonder Woman, I’m also going to have a look at Forever Evil: Argus #1-3, which I was extremely negligent in not covering when they came out, since they include flashbacks to some of the most important Wonder Woman moments since the nu52 started.

Spoilers ahoy, obviously.
