In the UK: Acquired for ITV2. Will debut in the spring.

There is a reason I felt guilty about turning off Angela’s Eyes after only a minute. Although I doubt it would have made a difference in that show’s case, sometimes you’ll come across a programme that is absolute rubbish at first, but which turns out to be a real corker by the end. That is, after all, why I do third-episode verdicts.

The Black Donnellys is one such show. I started watching it last night, and after about ten minutes, I was ready to start extracting some serious urine from it. But I finished watching it this morning, and I have to say the rest of it was riveting.

David Tennant being poached by Hollywood and ITV?

More from the “please take with a pinch of NaCl” school of journalism: David Tennant might be poached by either Hollywood or ITV, according to Sunday’s People. Plus RTD “wants to take a back seat to develop his own drama projects”, apparently.

I thought ITV had quit doing golden handcuffs deals because they ended up with Robson Green and Ross Kemp doing rubbish in exchange for loads of cash. Plus – and no offence to DT here – why would Hollywood be interested in him right now? The second series of Who doesn’t air in the US until September, and since when has British TV popularity resulted in massive Hollywood deals.

All in all, probably not true. But I thought I’d bring it to your attention.
