In which we try to review and show pictures and clips of the best bits from everything Gavin & Stacey actress Joanna Page has been in on TV, radio, theatre and film (we’re drawing the line at audio books). As life challenges go, it’s not quite up there with Danny Wallace’s Yes Man, but it’s worth doing.
Yes, honestly, The X-Factor. Because here you can see Joanna Page and hubby James Thornton in cartoon form, auditioning for the Christmas X-Factor. It’s a Sing-Derella version because they were both singing in the panto Cinderella over Christmas.
I was going to do a great big review of Miss Julie, but although it does look a very interesting and important film, judging from the bits I’ve seen, Mike Figgis is the director and it got three nominations for various awards:
a) I’ve not had the time to watch it properly
b) It’s Strindberg so somehow something else always pops up instead
c) Joanna Page is only in three scenes as a servant so does anyone really want me to? In the first scene, she’s just peeling vegetables (see above) so that doesn’t even count.
So I’m going to leave you with these two clips from her feature film near-debut (This Year’s Love being her debut, assuming her Love Actually CV isn’t lying since I haven’t actually watched it yet). All you really need to know is that she’s a servant, and Peter Mullan (currently appearing in The Fixer) is a footman who’s contemplating an affair with count’s daughter Saffron Burrows (who’s just finished appearing in His Own Worst Enemy). She may still be young (21ish) at this point but there are certain mannerisms you might recognise already. This is it though – she’s not in the rest of it, apart from the vegetables bit at the beginning.
Next time, I might get round to a review. It’ll be brilliant, I promise.
Today’s Joanna Page continues with the interviews theme of last time to feature two appearances on morning TV: the first on This Morning to discuss the Gavin & Stacey Christmas special, the second is from a much earlier appearance on Loose Women.
Why Loose Women? Well, you might remember it gets a mention in Gavin & Stacey series two, so it’s both ironic and informative for American viewers, who might be wondering what they’ve been missing out on (not much, guys. Don’t worry).
Just to mix it up a bit with Today’s Joanna Page, here’s a picture (or two) from her visit to the iTunes music festival, where she managed to avoid falling asleep while being interviewed by Peaches Geldof – although Peaches clearly wishes she’d taken her Ritalin before having to do an actual, you know, like job for a change.
Here’s JP miming a spinning class from when she joined a gym.
You can watch the full interview below on YouTube. Try not to throw a brick at your monitor whenever Peaches is on-screen.
You know, I will get round to a proper look at Miss Julie and This Year’s Love, one day. I’m not just stalling for time, honest.
