In the first caption competition of the year, oh dear God, what happened? Two people? Only two people captioning? Don’t you love him any more? At this rate, we’re going to have to phase out Sitting Tennant in favour of Sittings on Smith (in which various people sit on Matt Smith) – is that what you want?

Here it is. Get your thinking caps ready because here for your delight, courtesy of Toby, is the first captionable Sitting Tennant of 2010. It’s entitled Touchstone, so I’m guessing David Tennant is playing Touchstone in As You Like It, rather than auditioning to be the official mascot of Touchstone Pictures (now ABC Studios). First off, Happy New Year Sitting Tennanters. How have you been?

Secondly, although we’re announcing the winner of the caption competition today, we’re kicking everything off again on the picture competition with these three lovely pictures from our reliable competitors Sister Chastity, Ms Rullsenberg and Toby. Thank them nicely, particularly since it’s Sister Chastity’s birthday on Thursday – Happy Birthday, Sister Chastity!

Thirdly, I’m changing the rules to make it all a little easier and competitive and to bring picture-caption competition harmony. It’s now a straight five points for submitting a pic that gets displayed on a Monday and 10 points if yours is declared the best so far on a Friday (remembering that all pics that don’t get displayed are carried over to the next week). Does that sound fair? If so, here’s the leaderboard.
