The sizzle reel for Rainn Wilson’s failed CBS pilot Backstrom
Nordic Noir may have grabbed the attention of British viewers, but despite its best efforts – The Bridge (US) and The Killing – it’s really not taken off in the US. Backstrom, a CBS adaptation of a series of Swedish books by Leif GW Persson, didn’t even get past the pilot stage this year. However, its star Rainn Wilson has now posted the ‘sizzle reel’ – aka all the good bits – to YouTube so you can see if they made the right decision. I actually think this looks better and more interesting than the bulk of CBS shows, and Dennis Haysbert is in it, too, which is always a bonus, but YMMV.
