Random Acts of Ali Larter: Interviewing, feeding the world’s poor and enjoying diamonds

Ali Larter at the Tacori launch

This week, Ali Larter’s been up to a lot. As well as getting ready for the fourth season of Heroes and pointing out that Obsession isn’t designed to be taken seriously, she was the special guest at the launch of Tacori’s 18k925 range of diamonds.

For those that want to know, that’s a Tacori 18K925 Barbados blue pendant with a yellow gold and diamond crescent silhouette frame, layered with an 18k925 Rockin Oval-link necklace; her Tacori 18k925 ring was yellow gold and clear rose-cut quartz with diamonds; and her Tacori 18k925 earrings were citrine quartz studs.

UPDATE: You can now bid in an auction to own those jewels, all proceeds going to one of Ali’s favourite charities, the Art of Elysium.

Also on hand was Mad Men‘s Christina Hendricks.

Equally importantly – but more randomly – she’s been off to St Louis to interview Professor Mark Manary of the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center. Which as randomness goes is pretty random. Pourquoi, Ali?

Well, Manary runs the Peanut Butter Project and contributes to the Global Harvest Alliance, both of which try to eradicate malnutrition throughout the developing world. Our Ali, who’s passionate about ending world hunger, was interviewing him for a segment on the AT&T U-Verse subscriber channel.

Blimey. What’s she going to be up to next week?

Random Acts of Ali Larter: Splashing water in Darth Maul’s face

Ali Larter

This week, Ali Larter is splashing water in Darth Maul’s face. Which is odd, unless you realised that Heroes‘ fourth season premiere double episode airs a week on Monday in the US (who knows in the UK – no announcements yet), and NBC have just unveiled a big batch of promo pics from the premiere. Three guesses what she’s going to be doing (although bigger hints are available in the last promo trailer) – apart from getting very pissed off:

UPDATE: for those who want bigger spoilers, Heroes France has far more pics from episode one and episode two.

Incidentally, for anyone who wants to know what’s been going on between volumes, there’s the Heroes online graphic novels. They’re more than a bit shit, and fall into every comic book trap the show manages to avoid, but they at least give you some idea what everyone’s been up to.

This week’s (and next) focuses on Tracy. Now, I’m not saying they’re being gratuitous, but somehow, I don’t think page 5 would make it onto the tele, do you?

Random Acts of Ali Larter: Helping the poor in sub-Saharan Africa

Did you know that Kenneth Cole’s not-for-profit Awearness project has partnered up with Feed projects to create a Feed Health Backpack? Well now you do, thanks to our Ali, who’s been to an awareness/Awearness raising event in Santa Monica.

If you buy one of the backpacks, another identical pack for Community Health Workers is filled by Millennium Villages – an organisation that provides solutions to improve lives and lift people out of extreme poverty throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. It will contain medical supplies, a training manual, mobile phone, and other necessary tools in the field, and help identify CHWs as they complete household visits, establishing their community presence as healthcare providers.

There. Don’t say this feature is entirely pointless and only here because I like pictures of Ali Larter. It serves a valuable community purpose. Oh yes it does.

Heroes: Redemption – Dreams promo, a fight scene and some set pics

Heroes news is hotting up as its fourth season premiere next month approaches. NBC has another promo out for the next volume of Heroes, this one called ‘Dreams’. It doesn’t reveal too much that’s new, although if you look closely, you’ll notice that (spoiler) Tracy now appears to be indestructible, too, in her own watery way.
