Sitting Tennant

Tuesday’s Sitting Tennant (week 31, 2011)

Sister Chastity's Sitting Tennant

Well, after a long holiday, Sitting Tennant has returned. Hope you didn’t feel too deprived, but now chairs around the country are feeling rested and recharged, ready for Mr David to sit on them, so I’m sure it was all worth it.

First of the new Tennants comes from Sister Chastity. I imagine our David has been looking at the weather forecast, judging by his glumness. But what do you think captioneers?

  1. Hebbie: 220
  2. Sister Chastity: 185
  3. Erin C: 95
  4. Rullsenberg: 55
  5. Janice: 20
  6. esgaril: 10
  7. theriverlady, Toby: 5

Back in the wide, wide world of words, despite the bleak alternative universe painted by SK’s fearsome intellect, it’s Ms Rullsenberg’s smut that wins through to get the top 10 points. Well done to her and thanks to everyone else for contributing – with Marie off in New York (what a good time to pick to film a movie, huh?), we could see some excitement at the top of the leaderboard this time next week. What do you think?

Thinking caps on and away you go!

  1. Marie: 175
  2. Rullsenberg: 170
  3. SK: 120
  4. Toby: 100
  5. Electric Dragon: 95
  6. Jane Henry: 50
  7. Lisa G: 45
  8. theriverlady: 35
  9. Virpi: 25
  10. Hebbie: 20
  11. Joe B: 15
  12. whoficwriter, Jeri: 10
  13. kallan, Janice: 5

Got a picture of David Tennant sitting, lying down or in some indeterminate state in between? Then leave a link to it below or email me and if it’s judged suitable and doesn’t obviously infringe copyright, it will appear in the Sitting Tennant gallery. Don’t forget to include your name in the filename so I don’t get mixed up about who sent it to me.

The best pic in the stash each week will appear on Tuesday and get ten points; the runners up will appear on Friday (one per person who sends one in) and get five points.

You can also enter the witty and amusing captions league table by commenting on Tuesday’s Sitting Tennant photo, the best caption getting 10 points, everyone who contributes getting five points.

Random Acts

Random Acts: Scarlett planks in wellies, Amber and Johnny rewrite The Rum Diary

This week, Scarlett Johansson has chosen to lie around in wellies on a tree, which is fairly random of her.

Meanwhile, after two years in random development hell, the reliably random Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s movie, The Rum Diary, is finally going to be released in October/November this year. The somewhat nasty and misogynistic ‘lost’ novel of Hunter S Thompson, however, has been rewritten by Withnail and I‘s director, Bruce Robinson, so that not only is it a lot more like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, it’s also a comedy and a romance. It’s still set in Puerto Rico, though, and involves lots of drinking. Lucky Johnny. Lucky Amber.

A Pretender reunion on Burn Notice

Back in the 90s, there was a nifty little show on NBC called The Pretender, which I should probably do a Lost Gem on at some point. It starred Michael T Weiss as an almost unique genius who can be anyone he wants to be and uses his skills to help the innocent and punish the guilty by pretending each week to be a different person.

If that all sounds a bit familiar, maybe it’s because you’ve been watching Burn Notice, in which Jeffrey Donovan plays a spy who uses his skills to help the innocent by pretending to be all kinds of other people.

What’s interesting is that Donovan actually played Weiss’s brother, another Pretender, on The Pretender.

And this week, who should guest star on Burn Notice except Michael T Weiss. There’s fun for you.
