MTV announce the search for ‘MTV’s Miss Jersey Shore 2011’

To celebrate the UK return of MTV’s hugely successful show Jersey Shore MTV has teamed up with Heatworld.com to launch a national search to find “MTV’s Miss Jersey Shore UK 2011”.

If you think you’re as hot and, of course, as tanned as the Jersey Shore housemates Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Jenny “JWoww” Farley and Sammi “Sweetheart”, then MTV and Heatworld want to hear from you NOW!

Ten lucky girls will be shortlisted to take part in the competition at Mahiki, London on Tuesday 8th February – where they will get the chance to strut their stuff in front of stars of the show Pauly D and Vinny.

The chosen girl will be crowned “MTV’s Miss Jersey Shore UK 2011” and will win a glamorous outfit from Lipsy.

To enter the competition would-be Miss Jersey Shore candidatesneed to send in TWO jpeg photos, one headshot and one full body, looking your Jersey Shore best, along with the contestant’s name, contact number and D.O.B to [email protected], with a short paragraph explaining, in 50 words, what makes them the ultimate MTV Miss Jersey Shore.

MTV will select the best 10 entries who will be invited to London to compete for the ultimate accolade.

Closing date for entries must be received by noon on 3rd of February 2011.

Review: Portlandia 1×1

Portlandia

In the US: Fridays, 10.30/9.30c, IFC

The Independent Film Channel isn’t well known as a haven of comedy – more for earnestly liberal movies – but I’ll tell you what is well known for comedy: Saturday Night Live (at least it used to be). So imagine what would happen if you married IFC with SNL.

Portlandia, that’s what.

It’s essentially a comedy sketch show set in the (supposedly) earnestly liberal city of Portland, Oregon, a place where Steve Buscemi has to buy a 14-part series of books about a woman’s journey from a feminist book store in order to use the toilet and people have to investigate the farm their organic chicken has been reared in before they’ll eat it in a restaurant. Executive-produced by Lorne Michaels and featuring in most of the roles SNL‘s Fred Armisen and the most underrated female guitarist of all time, according to Rolling Stone magazine, Carrie Brownstein – collectively known as ThunderAnt – Portlandia isn’t 100% funny but it is one of the top two US comedies of the last year or so and if you like Flight of the Conchords, you’ll probably like this, too.
