What have you been watching this week (w/e 5 May)?

Summer’s here. You can tell because there’s not much on. So now, your help is needed even more. Have you seen anything good on tele at all this week?

The Daily Show‘s back and hasn’t really done anything interesting this week. I did catch Bettany Hughes’ excellent The Spartans (best watched in conjunction with Paul Cartledge’s companion book) in mid-morning re-runs this week – no adverts in the whole thing, so either there’s some sort of educational quarantine zone in the mornings or C4 is in serious trouble.

I did turf out some DVDs and start watching early 70s “futurisitic drama” Moonbase 3 (available on DVD still), which is really rather good and does have a Welshman running the moon. Weird that he’s called David Calder, given David Calder was the star of the very similar 80s show Star Cops.

No big surprises over on The Apprentice, with James finally getting chucked out after delighting us ever more with his CV and expressions, Lorraine getting evicted for being a misery guts, and Deborah getting the boot for being a sociopath. That just leaves Kate versus Yasmine: my money’s on Yasmine, which means Kate will win, even though she’s a robot.

Oh, and what happened to beardy interrogator from previous years?

Still got Burn Notice and Royal Pains to watch, as well as three episodes of The Goode Family, though.

As always, no spoilers unless you’re going to use the <spoiler> </spoiler> tags, please? Ta!

Meme of the week: Who’s your TV heroine?

Quite a simple one this week:

Who’s your TV heroine and why?

Heroine obviously has a lot of mileage, so it can be someone you admire (since your TV heroine need not be fictional), a favourite character, or even someone you think is a good role model.

I’m going to go for a combo of Verity Lambert, Kate Adie and someone else I’ll probably think of later once everyone’s started suggesting people (otherwise, I’ll end up picking Liz Shaw again). How about you?

What have you been watching this week (w/e 29 May)?

Everyone appears to be off having fun in the sun or looking after their kiddywinks, this week, so you’ve probably not watched any actual tele. But just in case you have, anything good or was there anything you shouldn’t have tuned in for?

We didn’t watch much this week, beyond cracking open the remastered original series Star Trek DVDs and giving them a go. Not as good as I remember, but still better than a whole lot of things I could mention. And we haven’t even got on to the really good eps yet. We have, however, been getting through those Come Dine With Mes at a rate of knots. I’ve got the first couple of episodes of Glee sitting around somewhere, ready to watch and review – should I bother? I’ve also got that Michael Woods ‘Beowulf’ thing from BBC4 to cast my eye over when I have a mo.

No The Daily Show this week, unfortunately. On The Apprentice: surprised to see James survive again – he’s so out next week – and I can understand why Howard got the chop, but Lorraine was probably more deserving. Interesting to see if we get an all-woman final which would be nice, and I’m suspecting it’ll be Nadine v Deborah (sp? x2).

What have you been watching this week (w/e 22 May)?

It’s fast approaching that time of year when TV gets really bad (ie “Summertime”) but just in case there’s been some good stuff (or bad stuff) on tele that everyone should be watching/not watching, leave a little note below to help your fellow TV watchers sort the chaff from the wheat.

This week, apart from numerous season finales I’ve already cast an eye over, I gave CSI: NY a try after three years (or something) since the last episode. For some reason, it ended up being set in Thessaloníki (or should I say ‘Thessaloníki’), rather than New York. Wasn’t desperately impressed by it, but hey ho, it’s always nice to see Louis Mandylor getting work.

Otherwise, it was The Daily Show and The Apprentice: surprised to see Ben go – I thought lippy Debs was for the chop this week after the rocking horse fiasco.
