Meme of the week: Fantasy scheduling

So suddenly, you get the call. Despite never having applied for the position, you’ve suddenly been appointed Head of Scheduling at your favourite TV channel. You’ve been given carte blanche to fill the schedules how you like, and you have the budget to acquire and even make whatever you want.

What’s your schedule like?

Obviously, what’s suitable for Saturday night viewing isn’t necessarily suitable for Sunday or Friday night. So you can restrict yourself to a single day or even a single evening. But it’s up to you: any time slots, any channel.

New idea – what do you think: the TV blog spotlight

So it occurred to me that it might be a nice idea to start profiling some other blogs that readers might find interesting. You know the form, do a little email interview about the blog, the owner, why they set it up, what it covers, what they do – that sort of thing. That way y’all might get to know about some good reading and some good programmes you can watch (or bad programmes you can avoid).

I’m not sure how regular it would be and I’d like to get a few together before I start it, but do I hear any volunteers or suggestions for blogs that should be featured? I have a few ideas for whom to feature, but I’d like to gauge levels of support first.

What have you been watching this week? (w/e September 11)

I’m slowly catching up with tele following my holiday, so haven’t really seen anything that I haven’t yet reviewed or talked about it. Dark Blue‘s had a couple of good episodes, in particular one with Michael Biehn from The Terminator as a dirty cop – and yes, our heroes actually got to do some downright bad things this time. But how about you?

Meme of the week: favourite vampire (show)

Bracing yourself for the sheer joy of The Vampire Diaries on The CW? Thought not. But, without wishing to seem too weird, might I ask:

Who’s your favourite vampire?

Or, if you prefer, show about vampires? You can go for books, movies, TV shows or a particular version of a vampire (do you prefer Frank Langella’s Dracula to Lois Jordan’s, for instance?). The list is vast, of course, what with Anne Rice, all of the Hammer Horror films, Dark Shadows, Ultraviolet, Being Human, BtVS, Angel, True Blood and Twilight to pick from, to name but a few, there’s bound to one that’s lodged in your mind.

Of course, if you can’t stand the nobs, don’t bother answering. I’m not sure whether I like Guy Flanagan’s Mitchell in the Being Human pilot or Corin Redgrave’s in Ultraviolet the best. I’ll have a think about it. I’m still reckoning Ultraviolet is top vampire show overall, though, even if Being Human is close competition.

PS please excuse me if I’ve spelt any names wrong – I’m in a rush!
