Orange Thursday: Jumanji: The Next Level (2019) and The Philadelphia Experiment (2012)

It’s been nearly a month since the previous Orange Thursday, which is a bit pathetic but is testament to my general busyness. Anyway, it’s back… on Wednesday. This is largely because there was a bumper crop of new shows this week to glance at and since I haven’t had the chance to watch them all yet, I’ll be watching them tonight and covering them tomorrow in WHYBW. That means Orange Thursday has to come on a Wednesday.

This week’s double-bill is:

See you after the ads and the trailers.

Orange Thursday: The Laundromat (2019)

Only one movie for you this week, as I didn’t manage to watch a second one last night after all. But it’s an all-star affair directed by Steven Soderbergh, written by Scott Z Burns and featuring Meryl Streep, Gary Oldman, Antonio Banderas, Jeffrey Wright, Robert Patrick, David Schwimmer, Rosalind Chao and Sharon Stone.

It’s The Laundromat (2019), it’s all about tax avoidance and the Panama Papers, and it’s going to be reviewed after the adverts and the trailer.

Orange Thursday: Doctor Sleep (2019) and Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)

Yes, it’s Friday. Let’s not talk about it. Let’s talk about the two movies I’ve got for you instead:

  • Doctor Sleep (2019): An adaptation to Stephen King’s sequel to The Shining that also serves as a sequel to The Shining.
  • Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2018): A sequel to Godzilla (2014) that also serves as a sequel to Kong: Skull Island.

Both of them after the adverts and the trailers.

Between Two Ferns
Weekly Wonder Woman

Orange Thursday: Between Two Ferns: The Movie (2019) and Wonder Woman: Bloodlines (2019)

Looks like we made it. Or I thought so till today.

No, hang on. We really did. Look, it’s Thursday and here’s Orange Thursday.

A couple of odd ones this week. First up, we have a movie version of Zach Galifianakis celebrity chat show, Between Two Ferns. That’s the one where he sits with a guest between two ferns and insults them. How are they going to do a movie of that, hey?

And then, rolling like it’s 2018, it’s the return for one week – and one week only – of TMINE’s old feature, Weekly Wonder Woman, as we look at the release of new animated movie, Wonder Woman: Bloodlines, which tells the story of how Diana, princess of the Amazons, rescues a wounded pilot, Steve Trevor…

What do you mean you’ve already seen that like half a dozen times already? You have a point. Yet surprisingly, Wonder Woman: Bloodlines, is an origin story that should still be watched.

Both of those after the jump.
