Clerks 2 trailer(s) online

Clerks then and now

They all might be a little older now, but the cast of Kevin Smith’s Clerks have got together for Clerks 2, coming to a cinema near you soon. As if that weren’t enough, most of the cast of My Name is Earl is joining them, including Jason Lee (complete with moustache), who appeared in Smith’s under-rated Mallrats and over-rated Dogma.

Now, there’s an official trailer on the Apple web site (QuickTime required), that frankly isn’t very funny. I was a bit despondent after watching it: although there’s an hilariously disturbing riff on Silence of the Lambs, most of the rest of it sucks.

Fortunately, there are other Internet-exclusive trailers available on YouTube that I heartily recommend you watch instead, even though the vid quality’s lower.

Watchmen gets another director

By the time it comes out, it’ll probably have had about 20 names attached to it, but the planned adaptation of Alan Moore’s Watchmen has yet another new director working on it, according to SciFi Wire. Hustle to hit the big screen

Robert Vaughn in HustleHustle is going to get turned into a movie now, according to the Hollywood Reporter (via Cinematical). Fox 2000 has grabbed the rights to the show, but Kudos, the production company behind Hustle, is still going to have a hand in it, with creator Bharat Nalluri producing and writer Tony Jordan penning the screenplay.

I can’t say I’m thrilled – never watched it for one thing. What I can say is that anything that gets Robert Vaughn back onto cinema screens has to be good. The man is a legend.

How to compound an already bad idea

The Pink PantherWe hold certain truths to be self-evident: Mick Fleetwood and Sam Fox must never host another Brits; Kelly Brook must never be asked to read an autocue again; and the one thing you should never ever do is remake the Pink Panther. We do so because we know, with every fibre of our being, exactly how’s it going to turn out before it’s even started in each of these scenarios. Look what happened when Steve Martin did the unthinkable? He remade the Pink Panther and it was rubbish. We knew it would be from the first moment we heard about it.

But now someone’s thought the even more unthinkable. How about not just one but two sequels to that remake? Sacre bleu! How can they not see what’s going to happen next?!
