A good flurry of new foreign shows are on their way. There’s a big bunch of Polish dramas headed towards Walter Presents we know not when – Chyłka (The Disappearance), Odwróceni (The Sins Of The Fathers) and Szadź (Angel Of Death) – but otherwise, everything has airdates.

Three friends Andre, Luc and Christian dream of becoming famous comedians. They take up various gigs, from local bars to community centres, but face a lot of struggles during their journey.

Oktoberfest 1900 (Oktoberfest: Beer & Blood) (Germany: ARD; UK: Netflix)

1900: A rich newcomer with a shady past arrives in Munich determined to crash the local Oktoberfest with his own brewery. But when his daughter falls in love with the heir to a rival brewery, a violent chain of events is unleashed that will threaten both families’ futures.

De Twaalf (The Twelve) (Belgium: VRT; UK: All4)

UK premiere date: Friday, October 16

Twelve ordinary people are called for jury duty for a murder case as traumatizsng as it is controversial: the respected headmistress Frie Palmers stands accused of two murders, the latter being her own child. The members of the jury are in for a difficult task, as the testimonies constantly change their minds about Frie’s part in the murders, their own lives are not exactly a walk in the park.

Gradually, as the case gains momentum, it becomes a trial not only for the accused but for the jury members themselves.

Der gleiche Himmel (The Same Sky) (Germany: ZDF; UK: More4)

UK premiere date: Friday, October 23, 9pm

Cold War drama set in 1974. Uniformed beaux are taking part in a seduction class run by the Stasi as part of Operation Romeo, a real-life historical mission in which the most presentable spies were sent through Checkpoint Charlie on an under-the-covers mission to seduce female western intelligence officers.
