Hello and welcome to 2020. Assuming you’ve survived the Kaiju…
…the invasion of time-repeating insects…
… and fire-breathing dragons…
…and aren’t simply watching boxing robots on pay per view…
…you’ll be raring to watch (and hopefully read about) some good TV. Hopefully, you’ve come to the right place then.
Since TMINE has been feasting itself on vegan Christmas alternatives for the past two weeks – and if you think you can’t get fat on vegan food, think again – don’t be surprised to hear that a lot of TV has been watched at the same time. As a result, and given the general quietness of January work-wise, the TMINE reviewing schedule is going to be quite jam-packed this week…
What to look forward to this week

The regulars
I will, of course, be serving you up the usual usuals this week, including the Daily News, some TV events from the BBC, BAFTA and/or RTS, and the latest acquisitions and premiere dates.
What Have You Been Watching? will be along on Wednesday to review the concluding episodes of For All Mankind, The Mandalorian, Mr Robot and Virgin River.
And on Thursday, Orange Thursday will be picking at random two movies from my Christmas viewing: 6 Underground, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Yesterday, Angel Has Fallen and X-Men: Dark Phoenix, The Irishman, The Fear of God and 6 Underground. I’ll review the rest, two at a time, throughout the rest of January, so if you haven’t already seen them, you can watch them to discuss them – pop up film club!

Bonus material
On top of that, tomorrow, there’ll be a special rundown of the UK TV I watched this Christmas, including Doctor Who, Gavin & Stacey, Worzel Gummidge, Martin’s Close and maybe Dracula if I get round to it. I’ll also be covering en masse some of Netflix’s new arrivals: The Witcher, season 2 of Lost in Space, season 2 of You and maybe Messiah if I get round to it.
Some new shows have already started overseas this year: Dare Me (US: USA), Deputy (US: Fox), and The Gloaming (Australia: Stan). I’ll try to do them on Friday.
Meanwhile, FBI: Most Wanted (US: CBS), Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector (US: NBC), Medical Police (Netflix) and AJ and the Queen (Netflix) are all set to premiere this week. Fingers crossed, I should be able to review some of them in the next week or so, although the Netflix shows might have to wait until Monday or Tuesday, and some may end up on a WHYBW.
I might also get round to previewing Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist (US: NBC; UK: E4) and Party of Five (US: Freeform), too.
But that’s your lot. New Year, new resolution – don’t make empty promises. Thus, don’t be surprised if not all of that gets reviewed. But I’ll try.
