Got a picture of David Tennant sitting, lying down or in some indeterminate state in between? Then leave a link to it below or email me and if it’s judged suitable and doesn’t obviously infringe copyright, it will appear in the Sitting Tennant gallery. Don’t forget to include your name in the filename so I don’t get mixed up about who sent it to me.

The best pic in the stash each week will appear on Tuesday and get ten points; the runners up will appear on Friday (one per person who sends one in) and get five points.

Each month, I’ll name the best picture provider and then at the end of the year, the overall champion will be announced for 2012!

Child actors: nice to see Whale Rider’s Keisha Castle-Hughes getting work in The Almighty Johnsons

Do you ever have those “Haven’t I seen you somewhere before?” moments when watching an actor in a movie, where eventually you realise that you’ve seen them when they were a child?

Evan Rachel-Wood in Practical Magic.

Who’s now been in True Blood, amongst other things.

Or Lukas Haas, that nice little Amish boy in Witness.

He was the crap gang member in Inception.

Then there’s Scarlett Johansson and Jessica Biel, who have been in everything and were in fact in everything when they were kids, too.

Then there’s Kirsten Dunst in Interview with a Vampire:

Who was in all three Spider-man movies and in Melancholia:

And of course Claire Danes was Juliet in Romeo and Juliet and is now doing very nicely for herself in Homeland:

Anyway, I’ve been having one of those moments while watching New Zealand show The Almighty Johnsons and finally, I’ve worked out where I’ve seen Keisha Castle-Hughes (aka Gaia) before:

She was, of course, the youngest person ever to receive a Best Actress nomination at the Oscars for Whale Rider all of 10 years ago now:

My how time flies, doesn’t it? (Of course, Cliff Curtis from Whale Rider has been finding work in the US with Trauma and now Missing.)

Here’s the trailer for it and after the jump, you can watch the whole movie – aren’t I good to you?

Aardman’s Pirates! renamed for the international market

Aardman has a film out in the UK right now called The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists!. It’s based on a book called The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists! and features the likes of Hugh Grant, David Tennant, Jeremy Piven, Salma Hayek, Martin Freeman and Russell Tovey. Here’s the trailer for it:

Except in the rest of the world, that’s not what it’s called. it’s called Pirates! Band of Misfits and here’s a trailer for it that takes the piss out of The Hunger Games.

What does the renaming tell you about the UK, the US or the rest of the world? Answers on a postcard…

Awake: the mental mystery deepens

One of the things I’ve been liking about NBC’s Awake, in which Jason Isaacs lives in two realities – one in which his wife is dead, the other, which he enters when he goes to sleep (and vice versa), in which his son is dead – is that it hasn’t been going for a sci-fi or supernatural explanation so far. In fact, it’s been coming at this from the point of view that this probably is a mental problem, the only issue being that we don’t know which reality is correct and which is the dream – and more to the point, do we really want to?

Looks like it’s going to be pushing that line of investigation even further on Thursday…
