So it’s nearly Christmas. Have you all been good? If you have, today’s question should actually get you a real-life answer:

What TV or movies if any would you like Santa to put in your Christmas stocking, either as a DVD or Blu-Ray box set?

I’ve mostly already bought what I might have wanted. I have yet to pick up a copy of that Juliette Binoche “Wuthering Heights” but that’s all that comes to mind right now. I can’t find my “A Clockwork Orange” but am not sure how unhappy I am about that. Ooh, I would like a copy of that longer recently-found-footage remastered “Metropolis”, I liked that. I don’t think I quite want a copy of “District 9”, the protagonist’s too irritating.
My mother would like a copy of Elvis’ final concert, on CBS in 1977 I believe. And, I wondered if my wife would like Gerhard Reinke’s Wanderlust. I’m not sure either of them are much obtainable, though.

It’s a toss-up between the complete ‘Mary Tyler Moore Show’ or the complete ‘West Wing’.
The show my Mom always wanted was quite a holy grail and I never could track it down for her – one episode of ‘The Danny Kaye Show’ with Nat King Cole and Mary Tyler Moore. I know the Paley Center doesn’t have it, but one day I’ll track it down…..

Lee and Herring’s Fist of Fun
I only “found” them with TMWRNJ. Since then, I’m quietly obsessed.

  • Lionel Nimrod’s Inexplicable World on the radio was their best work, I thought – great cast, too, since they had Tom Baker, Armando Iannucci and Rebecca Front with them.
@bob/@gareth: Dexter’s been terrible. I’m very tempted to give up on it. I think the problem is that it’s now just stupider than it was and everyone’s been incredibly out-of-character all season. Didn’t they change showrunner again in between seasons?
