• I was hoping the American version of ‘Being Human’ wouldn’t be a slavish remake of the original, but that preview doesn’t give much hope for that. At least ‘The Office’ didn’t take long to break free of the model, but only because there weren’t that many episodes.
The producers better be hoping most of their audience isn’t familiar with the BBC series……

It looks very similar but funnier, doesn’t it? They’re obviously going for more laughs.

‘He can handle the sun with a pair of cool shades’.
    What?
Come on, even Buffy, the Vampire Slayer vampires had to throw a coat over their heads…

Toby Whithouse made the point at a Q&A I saw him at that Dracula can actually walk around in the daytime without any problems in Bram Stoker’s original and given there’s no 100% agreed on set of vampire characteristics and BBC3’s budget, having a character who can only appear indoors and during night-shoots probably wasn’t a good idea.

It’s more the ‘cool shades’ thing I was sighing at… okay, you can have vampires who reckon the whole ‘only at night’ thing is a myth, I’m fine with that, but ones whose eyes are just a widdle bit sensitive?
(Mitchell goes out in the daytime without shades, doesn’t he?)
Of course, if the shades aren’t necessary and it’s just so he looks cool, well, there’s a whole other issue…

He wears shades in the pilot and a few other episodes. He also wears those weird not-gloves (are they just long sleeves he puts over his hands?)
The Gates had the vampires wearing sunblock of some variety.
The shades might, of course, be just to hide his eyes because they go a bit weird in daylight and he doesn’t want people to see. Don’t know.
