Review: The Sarah Jane Adventures 2×1

In the UK: Mondays, 4.35pm, BBC1
In the US: The SciFi Channel again, probably

Last series of The Sarah Jane Adventures posed something of a dilemma. Obviously, being a spin-off of Doctor Who featuring a former Doctor Who companion, comparisons with the mother ship were inevitable. Thing was, the comparison invariably became "Don’t you think The Sarah Jane Adventures is more entertaining, more adult and more consistently higher quality than Doctor Who?" – even though ostensibly it was aimed at six year olds.

Now it’s back, packed with action, continuity references and Sarah Jane fun. So again we have to ask, which one’s better? We also have to ask, can we bear the shame of watching CBBC at our ages?

Today’s Sitting Tennant: Comedy of Errors

Comedy of Errors

This week’s Sitting Tennant is from the RSC’s dramatisation of A Comedy of Errors and was provided by me, because I’m nice.

The current Sitting Tennant league tables are as follows. For pictures, everything’s still the same with Rosby on six entries, Persephone on four, Poly on three and a half, Toby on three and Scott on two. Anna has one and a half and Marie and Rullsenberg are at the back with one each.

The Witty And Amusing Captions league table has changed quite a bit though. Toby is now on ten captions, while Marie is on seven and Persephone has six, Rullsenberg has four, Electric Dragon has three captions and Poly, Stu_N and new entry Rev are on one each. Feel free to leave captions below for this entry, too, and keep those eyes peeled for any new pictures of David Tennant sitting down that you can find.

Got a picture of David Tennant sitting, lying down or in some indeterminate state in between? Then leave a link to it below and if it’s judged suitable, it will appear in the “Sitting Tennant” gallery. You can also enter the witting and amusing captions league table by commenting on existing photos in the gallery.

Review: Doctor Who – The Doomwood Curse

I imagine, if you’re a regular Big Finish actor, there is a range of reactions you experience when getting your latest script, depending on which of the various standard Big Finish categories it falls into. A lot of the time, you’re going to be wondering how you’re going to get all that jargon out. "Blimey, it’s a bit complicated. I don’t really understand a word of it. I must remember to be ever so serious."

Quite a lot of the time, you’re also going to be thinking, "Ooh, goody. This looks like fun. We’re going to have a laugh doing this, aren’t we?"

And then, just occasionally, you’ll get one through that not only makes you think, "Ooh goody, that’ll be fun," you’ll also be thinking. "Ah! I love the smell of ham in the morning."
