Don’t say I’m not good to you, but here’s four minutes of this Christmas’ Doctor Who episode, The Runaway Bride. Spoil yourself in low-quality camcorder-o-vision if you want:
I managed it. Just like I said I would and despite a lone request for me to tune in, I avoided Torchwood yesterday. I didn’t watch it on the tele. I didn’t set the PVR. I feel a certain sense of freedom.
But now I’m curious. Was it any good? The first of the Behind the Sofa reviews says it was both rubbish and offensive, which is what I suspected, but would anyone else like to chime in? There are going to be about 17 different repeats of it, if I need to catch up, I suppose…
Doctor Who and Torchwood stuff from the weekend:
The Cumberland News, always on my daily reading list, has an interview with Michael Spencer, one of the writers of the new BBC7 Doctor Who radio plays. He also has a script lined up for Colin Baker in the regular Big Finish run.
I did like this quote: “On a typical day Michael gets up at 9am and works for two to three hours after breakfast, before succumbing to ‘the writer’s worst enemy’ – the internet.”
I know what that’s like…
Doctor Who was 43 yesterday. Did you put up any balloons to celebrate? Here’s the best that I’ve got: a full transcript of the season two press conference, including Billie Piper’s claim she was sticking with the show, despite already having pulled the emergency rip-cord. Note the numerous references to David Tennant’s vast Doctor Who knowledge.
