Shameless

As you may have guessed by my infrequent posting last week, I was working my backside off so didn’t have time on Friday for "What have you been watching this week?" (aka "Your chance to recommend to friends and fellow blog readers the TV that they might be missing or should avoid – and for me to do mini-reviews of everything I’ve watched this week. Since we live in the fabulous world of Internet catch-up services like the iPlayer and Hulu, why not tell your fellow readers what you’ve seen so they can see the good stuff they might have missed?")

Sorry! But it’s here now.

So, after the jump, Cougar Town, Episodes, Kidnap and Ransom, Michel Roux’s Service, Modern Family, Shameless (US) and Southland. I’ll probably do proper reviews of Lights Out and Off the Map when I’ve caught up with them and I’ve already talked about The Cape. Oh, and we tried watching a bit of Wild at Heart on ITV but it was awful. Not making that mistake again.

Random Acts of Ali Larter: the New Year

So, Ali’s obviously on maternity leave. Being Ali, she’s less than a month from having given birth, but is already at charity parties, this time honouring James Franco on behalf of Art of Elysium.

All the same, let’s not over-stretch her.

Now maternity cover was being provided by Scarlett Johansson, but since she and Ryan Reynolds got divorced over Christmas, it’s questionable whether she’ll be able to help out any more. Either she’s partying away or she’s taken to cigarettes and booze. On the strength of these pics, I’d say let’s go with option two:

The best PR gift I’ve ever been sent

So, sometimes PR people send you things or give you things in an effort to make you like them, their products, etc. Usually, this amounts to a free T-shirt, a mouse or a pen with the company’s name on it. In other words, a piece of environmentally unfriendly rubbish that ends up in the bin. However, Sky Atlantic’s PR has gone overboard and actually come up with some really, really nice – an old movie magazine from the 1920s to celebrate Boardwalk Empire with Steve Buscemi. Look: isn’t it beautiful?
