Doctor Who

• The Runaway Bride was the 10th most watched programme on British television during Christmas week, with a final official rating of 9.35 million viewers.

Film

• The movie version of The Equalizer now has writers: novelist Michael Connelly and Terrill Lee Lankford.
• Peter Jackson fights back against New Line.
• More on The Golden Compass and other forthcoming New Line films.
• Jason Isaacs gets to do a lot more in the fifth Harry Potter movie.
• Jamie Foxx is rumoured to be Two Face in The Dark Knight, as are Edward Norton and Eion Bailey. Hmm.

British TV

• ITV has greenlit a new series about a fictional royal family. It will be set in Buckingham Palace.
• Greg Dyke asked for his job back, a few days after getting fired by the Beeb.
• Preston from The Ordinary Boys has legged it off Never Mind The Buzzcocks after having portions of Chantelle’s biography read to him. Well, you would, wouldn’t you?
• Jade Goody’s mother Jackiey has become the first housemate to be evicted from Celebrity Big Brother. A good choice by the British viewing public, no?

US TV

• Lifetime has commissioned a comedy/drama pilot starring Lily Taylor as a therapist beset by more problems than her patients.
• Geraldo wants to settle his grievances with Keith Olbermann in a boxing ring.
• Nelly Furtado is going to guest star on CSI: NY (notice I didn’t put this in the music category).
• As if to prove my point about waiting till the fifth episode for shows, FX’s chief says that Dirt starts to get good around about episode five.
• However, ratings for episode two dropped 35% from episode one, so that might be too late.
• There’s an interview with Extras’/Ugly Betty’s Ashley Jensen in The Mirror.
• Wil Wheaton ruins the Star Trek Experience in Las Vegas for anyone who hasn’t gone there yet. Fortunately, they’ve built another ride since he went there.
• E!’s Kristin talks to Supernatural’s creator Eric Kripke. He spoils.
