Forget Coupling, Press Gang and Joking Apart: Steven Moffat proved his comedy genius on Saturday’s Doctor Who Confidential with this particular quote about the Doctor and Madame de Pompadour kissing:
“The Madame de Pompadour fans are going to be up in arms, because obviously it’s non-canonical that she snogged an alien. But I think the Doctor Who fans are going to be pretty relaxed about it.”
Tee hee.
The Hoff has been trying to get a movie version of Knight Rider off the ground for years, but now the show’s creator, Glen A Larson, seems to have beaten him to the punch. There have already been two Knight Rider revivals – Knight Rider 2000 and Knight Rider 2010 – both of which were quite bad, but third time lucky, perhaps?
Personally, I’m holding out for an Airwolf movie, but will it really be the same?
NBC were going to give The West Wing a great big send-off this Sunday, just before the show’s last ever episode. But just as the network cancelled the series because of falling ratings and high costs, they’ve cancelled the interviews-and-clips special for the same reasons. Sad that, isn’t it?
It’s always interesting to get an outsider’s perspective on things you take for granted, so I’m going to be sticking with June Thomas’s guide to London theatre on Slate for the rest of the week. Day one takes in My Name is Rachel Corrie, which is directed by Alan Rickman – I’ve already discussed the controversy around this particular play – as well as the Theatre Museum and, of course, the changing of the guard.
Having trouble getting to sleep on a Saturday night? Well happy happy joy joy, this Saturday coming sees not only a repeat of the stupefyingly dull remake of A for Andromeda, there’s now the glorious chance to watch the only remaining episode of the original series, The Face of the Tiger, at the reassuringly late time of 10.40pm. Now, remember that the oh-so-dull remake clocked in at only 90 minutes. This is episode six and runs at 40 minutes. Oh my. Can’t wait.
