Today's Sitting Tennants: A new regime begins today

Jaradel's Sitting Tennant

Rullsenberg's Sitting Tennant

Sister Chastity's Sitting Tennant

Where was Sitting Tennant on Friday, I hear you ask? Well, I don't actually. No one seemed to notice it wasn't there. In fact, the last Sitting Tennant only got six comments. Oh dear. I'm sensing burn out. I'm sensing ennui. I'm sensing… Summer.

So after some random idea bouncing on Twitter, here's the new plan: bi-weekly Sitting Tennant. On Monday, a simple selection of Tennants in a sitting position, one from each contributor, to replace Dick Heads, which, let's face it, even Armitage's Army couldn't be bothered with, really.

These Sitting Tennants will purely be for enjoyment, so no captions please, unless you feel inspired, since they won't contribute to your points.

Then on Friday, the best pic from the current stash will go up by itself. That one will be for captioning purposes as well. I'll be mulling over the points system, but since the inspiration/bonus points thing didn't seem to be too inspiring, and the new system should do away with the need to some extent, I might well be phasing out the dead wood. How about simply 10 points for the best caption, with as many attempts as you like?

Let me know what you think.

Until then, have some pictures of David Tennant sitting down. Here's the picture board:

  1. Rullsenberg: 23.5
  2. Sister Chastity: 20.5
  3. Jaradel: 19.5
  4. Rosby: 2.5
  5. Persephone: 1

Got a picture of David Tennant sitting, lying down or in some indeterminate state in between? Then leave a link to it below and if it's judged suitable, it will appear in the “Sitting Tennant” gallery. You can also enter the witting and amusing captions league table by commenting on existing photos in the gallery.

I like the new system. Still get lots of lovely pictures of Mr Tennant to ogle, plus a good incentive to really sharpen up the wits with the new points system.

I did notice the lack of Sitting Tennant last week, but I thought something must have come up to delay it.

Question about the new regime: are additional points awarded for the picture selected for captioning on Friday, or is it still one point per picture regardless of whether or not it makes the captioning post?

Over to the floor. I was considering just sticking to one point per picture with a bonus 0.5 if it's topical, but do people think pic of the week should get more than that?

Since you asked, I think that if you deem one particular picture to be worthy of the captioning showcase, then the person who submitted it should be rewarded for supplying it.

And as one who doesn't really send in that many (and in fact, I don't actively look for them anymore), I'm not saying that in hopes of boosting my points total.

[I bow to your (much greater) wisdom, Rob]
I did very much notice the absence of ST on Friday but didn't feel it fair to comment in another thread on the matter. But still, summer and all that...

New system seems dandy, but yeah, I think some bonus for the contributor of the selected 'best pic' seems fair. Am I to assume that you are adjudicator of 'best pic' for captioning sir? As ringmaster of this brilliant wheeze which has given us much enjoyment over the last year it only seems fair you should arbitrate. If we vote on which seems best for captions, there's probably a danger of us just voting for ourselves. However, if the submitting person's name isn't given when they're posted just for delectation it should still be fair as frankly I can't always remember which ones I've sent in...

Sorry, that makes me sound like I have loads of questions. Really I'm just enjoying the fun of the pics and the captions. Delightful.

Scratch at least part of that message: I'm an idiot for not spotting that the picture tag captions SAY who submitted them.. Hilariously though I did think the one most ripe for captioning for the middle one which I actually submitted! It's been a long day in my defence....

Unfortunately, yes. I'd rather Sitting Tennant were of the people, by the people, for the people, but I'm can't think of a way of putting democracy into action here without taking up lots of people's time and getting them to comment on lots and lots of entries - which will probably cause even greater burn-out and will involve an inevitable conflict of interests.

So, just like He-Man, I HAVE THE POWER.

[I bow to your (much greater) wisdom, Rob] Fine by me: and I'm sure the lovely Mrs MediumRob knows who has the power at home.

[I bow to your (much greater) wisdom, Rob] A new regime... how exciting!! I too noticed the lack of a sitting Tennant last week, but thought maybe you were engrossed tweeting and I didnt want to be rude and interrupt!

As i only provide the pics and dont comment on them (far too unwitty for that) I am perfectly happy for you to wield the power :)

To England. Wheeeeeeee. To find pics.....
