Meme of the week: Most tear-jerking movie

Posted on May 13, 2009 | comments |

Time for meme of the week. This week's question:

What's the most tear-jerking movie you've ever seen and why?

Off the top of my head, I'd say The Shawshank Redemption, mainly thanks to the ending, but hows about you? If you want, you can name a TV show instead, but I can't think of any TV shows that were specifically tearjerking - can you think of any?

As always, leave a comment with your answer or a link to your answer on your own blog.

  • hi

    The most tear-jerking ones are:

    Eight below

    Up

    Harry Potter (all deaths)

  • Eric

Pixar's latest animated movie UP! I teared up several times, the first scene chronicling his life story especially!

  • Just remembered Terminator.

First film for the Kyle/Sarah relationship. That line about living a lifetime in a few short days or whatever it is. So sad....

Second film when Arnie lowers himself into the flames. I couldn't believe I cared so much about a robot!

  • The movie Sophie's Choice, all of which was depressing and the ending itself was not very uplifiting either.

  • No doubt about it. Wall-E.

  • Phew! I had thought I would be trusted by now, but clearly I'm still on the naughty list ;)

    thanks!

  • Two or more links is a hint of spaminess as far as the blog software is concerned (and it's usually right). It allows it through if you're a 'trusted commenter' but you have to sign in with an account to qualify for that privilege. But I've approved the comments now.

  • Maybe it was my comment having a link?

  • BTW mine are done though I had done one list back in 2005 so this one generally refers back to that...

  • Okay - that is just weird. I commented and it seems to have gone to you for approval. What did I do?!

You can leave just about any kind of comment you like. You can argue, suggest I am (or anyone else is) wrong, leaving general messages of love – anything. However, you absolutely can't leave messages that attack other commenters (or me): your comment will either be edited or deleted and you'll be barred from leaving any further comments. We want to keep it civil here. Oh, and absolutely no German conspiracy theorists please – I think we've all had enough of them round here – and no stupid spammy adverts for the DISH network.
