Daniel Craig is to play Lord Asriel in The Golden Compass according to Variety (via SciFi Wire). I've never read it, so I have no idea if that's interesting or not.
The rest of cast includes Eva Green, who's the Bond girl for Craig's Casino Royale, and Nicole Kidman.

Nah. Never read any Pullman stuff. I'm aware of it, thanks to that Big Read show last year, but not actually opened its covers and read it.
I'm more of a non-fiction reader than a fiction reader. I'm in the middle of 'War Reporting For Cowards' at the moment.

I know this is heresy, but I think 'Golden Compass' is a much better title than Northern Lights, considering the titles of the other books in the series (which all refer to artifacts that drive the plot).
Daniel Craig is good casting for Lord Asriel, and if Eva Green is playing Serafina, that's a good match too. Who's playing the polar bear, though?
