In the UK: Thursdays, 10pm, BBC2
They're back. The ubiquitous Robert Webb and David Mitchell are back! Of course, being ubiquitous, it's not like they seem to have gone away, of course, but here they are, back again, with a new series of That Mitchell and Webb Look, which is - equally, of course - based on their radio show That Mitchell and Webb Sound.
When people say ubiquitous, they generally mean that in a bad way. But having Robert Webb and David Mitchell on just about every TV and radio programme on every TV channel imaginable - whether it's talking about poetry, dancing on Comic Relief, acting on Peep Show, appearing on game show panels or featuring in ads - is actually a good thing. Because they are very, very funny.
Most of the time.

It's upfronts time at NBC, the time of the year in which the network shows off to advertisers all the new programmes it has planned for the Fall - so they can decide if they'd like to advertise during them and save NBC from bankruptcy.
So after the jump, rundowns on all the new shows, virtually all of which seem to have been made by members of the Friday Night Lights staff. Previews include Trauma, Parenthood, Mercy, Day One, Community and 100 Questions, complete with videos. Don't say I don't spoil you.

I'd not heard of this, but it's filming this month. How odd:
PLAYING SHOP
Playing Shop is a new sitcom written by and starring David Mitchell and Robert Webb (Peep Show).
They play Eric and Jamie, two of the most dynamic, practical and driven men ever to try and run a business out of a garden shed. Convinced that everyone else involved in commerce are idiots, they think that this insight alone will make them millionaires.
To such men, redundancy is just an opportunity - an opportunity to blow all their money on two massive trips to Rymans. Armed with new computers, state-of-the-art stationery and a blogger's contempt for the rest of mankind, all they have to do is sit back and wait for greatness to be thrust upon them. Oh and somehow earn enough money to keep themselves in lager and snacks.
They're up a creek basically, although they have got a paddle - they're just not sure whether they can be bothered to use it. Welcome to the epic struggle of two men attempting to make a fast buck without getting up before eleven or ever missing "Bargain Hunt".
If you would like to join us for this brand new comedy on Saturday 20th December at Teddington Studios, then apply now!
Anyone else think Robert Webb was really good on Buzzcocks last night, by the way?

Just a little note that Joost, those exciting Internet TV people, now have the first two series of Peep Show, as well as a few other Channel 4 shows like Shameless.
The good things about this is:
- It's completely free, unlike iTunes or DVDs
- You don't need to install any software any more, since it runs in any browser than can play Flash video
Basically, all you need is a broadband connection and a web browser. Yey.
PS When did they change the theme tune on Peep Show or is is a licensing problem that stops them from using the proper tune?

Okay, I've already reviewed this. I know. But my wife wanted to see it, and she was gutted when we couldn't use the free tickets Fat Pig's PR guy offered us – two hours before the performance was due to start, mind – so I thought I'd treat her to dinner and the theatre yesterday. Cos I'm nice.
The thing about both movies and TV shows, though, is that they're always the same. Once recorded, they're immutable. But theatre changes every night. The actors can improve or vary their performance, be tired one night and turn in a dodgy performance, get bored, or ad lib, for example. Mistakes can be fixed – or new ones can turn up.
So two weeks on, is Fat Pig better or worse?
