Since Kyle XY first started, it's gone through something of a mutation. At first a sci-fi mystery series - Who is Kyle and why doesn't he have a belly button? - along the lines of John Doe crossed with Dawson's Creek, it slowly became something of a Roswell - teen angst set against a backdrop of weird sci-fi-ness. Revealed as a cloning experiment designed to unleash the full potential of the human mind and body, Kyle has slowly accumulated more - and occasionally better - superpowers than Peter Petrelli. However, much of the mystery has disappeared, replaced by the thrills of conspiracies and shadowy organisations.
When we left Kyle at the end of last season, his girlfriend had been abducted by one of the aforementioned shadowy organisations; Jessi XX, his slightly demented, equally super-powered friend, was just about to run out of town with clone mum Ali Sheedy; and everyone else was worrying about whether to shag their partners after the prom or not. So far, so complicated.
With the return of the show for its third season, it looks like Heroes is going to have a run for its money this year.

Once a time, Babylon 5 was the bee's knees of sci-fi television. With a five-year arc full of surprises and effects entirely created using CGI for the first time, it was geared towards an adult audience from the outset. Even when Deep Space Nine upped its game, Babylon 5 still got the geek love.
Then things went wrong. Its five-year arc got compressed down to four years when it looked like the show wasn't going to be renewed. Then the show got renewed and a fifth year had to be grafted on. That season wasn't at all good and the love began to ebb away. The sequel show, Babylon 5: Crusade, got cancelled before the end of the first season and the follow-up pilot didn't even get commissioned for a series.
Ten years on, it's back as a straight-to-DVD movie, Voices in the Dark, which could be the first of many stories featuring the surviving members of the original cast. Can it recapture what it once had or has it finally had its day?

Ah, the Aspy propaganda show returns. Yes, the good-looking genius with poor social skills, muted emotional reactions, monotone voice, obsessive interests and an affinity for computers is once again back and boosting ABC Family's ratings through its (not especially high) roof.
