I'm afraid the loss of West, DeMaggio, Segal, LeMarche and MacNeil just feels like shark jumping territory for me. I love the show with a passion, but trying to watch it with a new set of voices? Blah! No thanks, there's almost no chance that they'll sound like the original cast - I'd rather have the show end at 'Wide Green Yonder' than carry on in some horribly mangled fashion.

Bummer.

Me, too. I'm still working my through the books. They're just about the best historical fiction I've ever read - as though they've come from a time capsule in the 19th century. Apologies to any other writers of historical fiction.

Have to fess up to not having read the books, but I loved the understatedness in the film <spoiler> the scene when Russell Crowe can't say anything to the young boy whose lost his arm, but gives him the book on Nelson, the one where the boy sews up the body bag of his friend, and the one where Paul Bettany just talks to him about insects are incredibly moving. </spoiler> I also love the relationship between Russell Crowe and Paul Bettany. Would love to see it revisited. And yes. MUST MUST read the books...
