One of my alltime favorite 70s movies (with the likes of "The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3," etc.)...

My favorite character is the cruise's social director, played by Roy Kinnear. He has the best lines.

Woman passenger to Kinnear: Shouldn't you be cheering us up?
Kinnear: Well, there are no icebergs.

And the best line of the movie, I think, is another Titanic reference.
Kinnear is trying to get the passengers into the spirit of a party while they all know what's going on in the bowels of the ship, and when one depressed woman passenger makes fun at his attempt at merriment, he replies:
"It'll be a night to remember!"

I think the best dark comedy lines goes to the Captain's girlfriend. They've just had the Captain announce the fact the bombs are on board and are going to explode at dawn and there's no hope of rescue. Then up pops Roy Kinnear and tries to jolly them up with details of the ball in the evening.

"Are we downhearted?"

DEAFENING SILENCE

Captain's girlfriend: "Well, maybe just a little bit."
