It's all just not enough to displace it as official fave.

I know that makes my top two films both serial killer movies, but I'm not a serial killer obsessive. That's my sister you're thinking of. I don't like other serial killer movies.

I'd probably be less harsh on Petersen but it is such a stunningly constructed film overall that any slight mis-steps in his portrayal is more than forgivable.

I'm glad that there is a cult following because I hate it when the whole silence of the lambs debate comes up in movie buff circles and I campaign for Brian Cox as the best Lecter and everyone thinks i'm crazy because they've never seen Manhunter.

Nothing against Tony Hopkins, who is a fine actor, but Cox's portrail was a masterpiece of intelectual horror. Having read the book Red Dragon after seeing Manhunter, I was sorely disappointed that the book wasn't followed more closely. I too love Michael Mann Films, especially The Keep and Manhunter. I also think his film soundtracks inspire "AWE"!
