Well, I liked Mine all Mine, but then I'm very fond of Griff Rhys Jones. I also thought Ruth Madoc was hilarious, and I enjoyed Joanna Page as Candice. I remember being shocked, awed and laughing sometimes when I felt I shouldn't at Queer as Folk - really groundbreaking telly. A phrase commonly used to stuff that isn't all that groundbreaking, but this genuinely was. When I heard RTD was doing Dr Who I thought ouch, but then saw MaM and thought oh, he can make the switch.

I think he's done a phenomenal job of reviving Dr Who. It's a real event in our house, and the first show we've sat down together as a family to watch, just like I did with my parents. I think it's a huge achievement to get cross generational support like that, to bring in new viewers and satisfy old ones.

My only caveats are that I actually get a bit fed up with him banging on about gay issues. We do get the point now, and I'm not sure it's always totally necessary in a kid's programme. I also wish the Dr didn't have to have such a complicated love life. And I've stopped watching Confidential because I felt RTD was getting a little smug sometimes.

But these are small fry. He's done a fantastic thing for the nation and the world. So hurrah for RTD, Dr Who, and of course that lovely David Tennant. Oh, and as this is Joanna's page, praps we should start a campaign for her to be the new assistant?

Like a lot of things, I only watch it for the blog. It's been a bit better this year, although the cut-down version is pointless, particularly now Rusty's started to downplay himself.

"We should start a campaign for her to be the new assistant"

That would be lovely, particularly as we're singularly lacking a Welsh assistant in the history of both old Who and nu-Who. How about Stacey for the next assistant if they're not going to do a third series?

But maybe only for the specials. Much as she misses Wales, which would make Who seemingly ideal, her hubby's in HolbyBlue which is filmed in London (unlike Casualty), and I think she'd probably miss him more if she was in Cardiff for nine months of the year, filming heinous numbers of hours per day and at weekends.

Just a thought ;-)
