The Wednesday Play: Red Riding Hood (1973)

This week’s play is Red Riding Hood, one of ITV’s Armchair Theatre productions from 1973. One of the last productions before the series’ demise in 1974, it’s a gripping psychological thriller directed by Joan Kemp-Welch and mirroring the story of Red Riding Hood. Starring Rita Tushingham and Keith Barron, it sees Tushingham caught up in a dismal domestic situation. Or is she, since possibly everything you see on-screen might be the result of Tushingham’s distraught imagination? Challenging and disturbing, it’s well worth watch.

As always, if you like it, buy it!
