That famous one-word crime scene from The Wire

Posted 19 days ago at 09:31 | 4 comments |

Just in case you never watched The Wire, first can I ask what's wrong with you and tell you that you really need to get to Amazon to order the DVD box sets of all five seasons right now.

But second, have this little taster. It's a famous scene from The Wire in which the po-lice do proper po-lice work using only one word. It'll only give you a hint as to why The Wire is so good, but it's fun, it's clever, and it'll give you at least some idea of why the show is so loved.

BTW, not safe for work.

Bravo sir! I can never, ever get tired of this scene. The direction, the writing, the acting. The entire thing is just amazing.

Then again, can you expect to hear anything less from someone who's decided to write about every single episode of the show? :) I make no apologies for gushing, this is the scene which sold me on The Wire.

    Damn good television.

I can't wait for Treme, Simon's next HBO series. Anything he does will get at least a look from me.

It's just the best, isn't it? And yet not a single Emmy, IIRC.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing this. My favourite scene in the whole series. A clear demonstration of the beauty of the interplay between writing/acting/directing and the amount of mileage you can make from one tiny little swear word.

    I love Bunk!
