I'm not usually a big fan of remakes, but I feel a lot better about 'True Grit' in the Coen Brothers hands than I do about attempting to re-do 'The Third Man'.
There was a... heft to the roles played by Orson Welles and Joseph Cotton in the original. Maguire and Decaprio have some great roles between them, but they still come off as lightweights whem measured up to those roles.
As for 'True Grit', I like the casting ideas and I hope they can pull it off. It's just a shame there doesn't seem to be character actors like Jeff Corey around anymore to take on the killer's role. Even the villians have to be marquee quality nowadays.....
