Hmm, affectionate, neurotic for Emma's father? I rather think selfish, petulant and neurotic a better description. Am a bit worried this adapation will be so modern it won't be recognisable from the original (there has already been a very good modernisation of Emma, it was called Clueless), but maybe I'm being a grumpy old bat. The cast is very good. Wonder if they actually filmed the picnic on Box Hill, which is a frequent haunt of ours...
