Meme of the week: Which TV character do you look like?

Posted on April 29, 2009 | 11 comments |

Last week, I asked you which TV character you'd most like to be. This week, on a similar theme, the question is

Which TV character do you look like?

For those of a bashful temperament or low self esteem, the alternate question is

Which TV character would you most like to look like?

I asked lovely wife who I most look like, and after a few years suspecting it might be Zach Braff, my self-image was substantially altered when she revealed that – contrary to a recent episode of HeroesI am Sylar:

Sylar

"He looks just like you."

Oh, as they say.

I don't think I look like any but I have had a couple of comments during my life that go something like "you look like an ugly version of x". Niiiiiice.

A thinner Michael C. Hall is about as close as I can get. With elements of Matt Damon (if you'll allow that). But, y'know, not as handsome as either. Imagine if we were all brothers, I'd be the unsuccessful one their mother tuts about in private.

I'd go with station manager Kenny, as played by Tom McGowan on 'Frasier'.

But I'm afraid this picture best represents me if I was in TV Land:

Um not quite TV, but in my salad days, I used to be told I looked like Lois Lane (film version) - I wouldn't mind being compared to Teri Hatcher from the TV version now, but sadly I am not nearly so thin...

The only time I was ever watching a television show and thought: "She looks a bit like me...I think..." was during a long-forgotten anthology show of ghost stories called Shades of Darkness. (Anyone remember that? I think it was done by Granada and some of the stories were rather good.) One was an adaption of an Edith Wharton short story called "Afterward", and I thought there was some resemblance between me and a character called Mary Boyne. It's hard to be objective though, isn't it? I should ask the Resident Fan Boy...

Kate Harper played Mary Boyne in "Afterward". I found a picture of her:

Can't see much from the side, unfortunately. But do you think she still resembles you?

My co-workers claim that I look like Hugh Laurie.

When pressed, they admitted that I really just had the personality of Dr. House.

Better than having the personality of Prince George.

I was in a room with Vincent D'Onofrio last week and I have to say with the right haircut I could be his stand in.

And a little hair colour, he's less gray than I am.

I'll try to find suitable pics for explanation.

The only TV Character I've been compared to physically in recent times was The Shield's Vic Mackey. Of course that was a reference to my (lack of) hair and generally intense stare. I'm certainly not as heavily built as Michael Chiklis is.

But really I don't see it. Maybe if I went with the full 'Mackey' and put on about 50lbs.

I've not seen a TV Character I look much like myself, thought if there is one he'd probably be from some offbeat British Sitcom. I think that's the kind of look I have.
